  • Identification of a danger-associated peptide from apolipoprotein B100 (ApoBDS-1) that triggers innate proatherogenic responses
  • 2011
  • Ingår i: Circulation. - Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine, Solna. - 1524-4539 .- 0009-7322. ; 124:22
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: Subendothelial deposited low-density lipoprotein particles are a known inflammatory factor in atherosclerosis. However, the causal components derived from low-density lipoprotein are still poorly defined. Apolipoprotein B100 (ApoB100) is the unexchangeable protein component of low-density lipoprotein, and the progression of atherosclerosis is associated with immune responses to ApoB100-derived peptides. In this study, we analyzed the proinflammatory activity of ApoB100 peptides in atherosclerosis. METHODS AND RESULTS: By screening a peptide library of ApoB100, we identified a distinct native peptide referred to as ApoB100 danger-associated signal 1 (ApoBDS-1), which shows sequence-specific bioactivity in stimulation of interleukin-8, CCL2, and interleukin-6. ApoBDS-1 activates mitogen-activated protein kinase and calcium signaling, thereby effecting the expression of interleukin-8 in innate immune cells. Ex vivo stimulation of carotid plaques with ApoBDS-1 enhances interleukin-8 and prostaglandin E release. Furthermore, we demonstrated that ApoBDS-1-positive peptide fragments are present in atherosclerotic lesions using immunoassays and that low-molecular-weight fractions isolated from plaque show ApoBDS-1 activity inducing interleukin-8 production. CONCLUSIONS: Our data show that ApoBDS-1 is a previously unrecognized peptide with robust proinflammatory activity, contributing to the disease-promoting effects of low-density lipoprotein in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis.

  • In situ observation of gamma-ZrH formation by X-ray diffraction
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Alloys and Compounds. - : Elsevier. - 0925-8388 .- 1873-4669. ; 695, s. 3124-3130
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report on the measurement of the formation of gamma-ZrH during in situ gaseous charging. The measurements were undertaken using high-energy synchrotron X-ray diffraction. Experimental observation shows that gamma-ZrH can form at 180 degrees C from a mixture of alpha+delta while dehydrogenating at slow cooling rates. The observation is further supported by ex situ laboratory X-ray diffraction on deuterated Zr powder that has undergone a similar heat-treatment cycle. The crystal structure of gamma-ZrH refinement agrees with the reported P4(2)/n structure found in the literature. (C) 2016 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

  • Energy Levels, Transition Rates and Electron Impact Excitation Rates for the B-like Isoelectronic Sequence with Z=24-30
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : Bibliopolis, Edizioni di Filosofia e Scienze. - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 239:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We report calculations of spectroscopic accuracy for 513 states in the B-like ions with Z = 24-30. The energy levels and transition rates are calculated using the second-order many-body perturbation theory, while multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock calculations are performed to support the former results. The present two sets of results agree excellently with each other, and can be used as benchmarks in the future. The electron-impact excitation (EIE) collision strengths are calculated based on independent processes and isolated resonances approximation using the distorted wave method. Based on the present atomic data, the spectral lines of these ions are simulated using a collisional radiative model. The amount of energy, transition data, and EIE collision strengths of high accuracy are significantly increased for several B-like ions of astrophysical interest, where experimental data are still very scarce. The results can be used in line identification, plasma modeling, and diagnostics of astrophysical plasmas.

  • Energy levels, lifetimes and radiative rates for transitions in the bromine isoelectronic sequence La XXIII-Dy XXXII, W XL
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Atomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables. - : Elsevier. - 0092-640X .- 1090-2090. ; 123, s. 114-167
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method, calculations for the lowest 62 levels of the ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2) 4p(5), ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2)4p(3)4d(2), ([Ar] 3d(10))4s(2)4p(4)4d, ([Ar] 3d(10))4s4p(6), and ([Ar] 3d(10))4s4p(5)4d configurations are performed for the bromine isoelectronic sequence La XXIII-Dy XXXII, W XL. Results of energy levels, lifetimes, wavelengths, and electric dipole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic quadrupole radiative rates are presented. In order to assess the accuracy of results, independent calculations for W XL have been carried out using the many-body perturbation theory (MBPT) method. Comparisons are made with available theoretical results from other calculations and the observed values of the Atomic Spectra Database of the National Institute of Standards and Technology. Energy levels are estimated to be accurate to better than 1%, and radiative rates (and lifetimes) are accurate to better than 20% for a majority of strong transitions. These results should be useful in many applications of lanthanide ions related to broad area of research such as applied physics, laser physics and fusion science. (C) 2017 Elsevier Inc. • Ingår i: Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. - : Pergamon Press. - 0022-4073 .- 1879-1352. ; 208, s. 134-151
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Employing two state-of-the-art methods, multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock and second-order many body perturbation theory, highly accurate calculations are performed for the lowest 272 fine -structure levels arising from the 2s(2)2p(3), 2s(2)p(4), 2p(5), 2s(2)2p(2)3l (l = s, p, d), 2s2p(3)3l (l = s, p, d), and 2p(4)3l (l = s, p. d) configurations in nitrogen-like Ge XXVI. Complete and consistent atomic data, including excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, hyperfine structures, Lande g(J)-factors, and E1, E2, M1, M2 line strengths, oscillator strengths, and transition rates among these 272 levels are provided. Comparisons are made between the present two data sets, as well as with other available experimental and theoretical values. The present data are accurate enough for identification and deblending of emission lines involving the n = 3 levels, and are also useful for modeling and diagnosing fusion plasmas. • Extended calculations of energy levels, radiative properties, A(J), B-J hyperfine interaction constants, and Lande g(J)-factors for oxygen-like Kr XXIX
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. - : Elsevier. - 0022-4073 .- 1879-1352. ; 194, s. 108-112
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using the multiconfiguration Dirac-Fock method and the second-order many-body perturbation theory method, highly accurate calculations are performed for the lowest 344 fine-structure levels arising from the 2s(2)2p(4), 2s2p(5), 2p(6), 2s(2)2p(3)3s, 2s(2)2p(3)3p, 2s(2)2p(3)3d, 2s2p(4)3s, 2s2p(4)3p, 2s2p(4)3d, 2p(5)3s, 2p(5)3p, 2p(5)3d, 2s(2)2p(3)4s, 2s(2)2p(3)4p, 2s(2)2p(3)4d, 2s(2)2p(3)4f, and 2s2p(4)4s configurations in O-like Kr XXIX. Complete and consistent atomic data, including excitation energies, lifetimes, wavelengths, hyperfine structures, Lande g(J)-factors, and E1, M1, E2, M2 transition rates, line strengths, and oscillator strengths among these 344 levels are obtained. Comparisons are made between our two different sets of results, as well as with the other available experimental and theoretical values. For O-like Kr only a few levels have been experimentally established. The accuracy of our calculated energies is however high enough to facilitate identifications of observed lines involving the n = 3,4 levels. The calculated data are also useful for modeling and diagnosing fusion plasmas. (C) 2017 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

  • Large-scale Multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock Calculations for Astrophysics : Cl-like Ions from Cr VIII to ZnXIV
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP). - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 246:1
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • We use the multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) method combined with the relativistic configuration interaction approach (GRASP2K) to provide a consistent set of transition energies and radiative transition data for the lower n = 3 states in all Cl-like ions of astrophysical importance, from Cr VIII to Zn XIV. We also provide excitation energies calculated for Fe X using the many-body perturbation theory (MBPT, implemented within FAC). The comparison of the present MCDHF results with MBPT and with the available experimental energies indicates that the theoretical excitation energies are highly accurate, with uncertainties of only a few hundred cm(-1). Detailed comparisons for Fe X and Ni XII highlight discrepancies in the experimental energies found in the literature. Several new identifications are proposed.

  • Resonance-enhanced electron-impact excitation of Cu-like gold
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Quantitative Spectroscopy and Radiative Transfer. - : Pergamon Press. - 0022-4073 .- 1879-1352. ; 198, s. 48-58
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Employing the independent-process and isolated-resonance approximations using distorted-waves (IPIRDW), we have performed a series of calculations of the resonance-enhanced electron-impact excitations (EIE) among 27 singly excited levels from the n <= 6 configurations of Cu-like gold (Au, Z = 79). Resonance excitation (RE) contributions from both the n = 4 -> 4 - 7 and n = 3 -> 4 core excitations have been considered. Our results demonstrate that RE contributions are significant and enhance the effective collision strengths (Upsilon) of certain excitations by up to an order of magnitude at low temperature (10(6.1) K), and are still important at relatively high temperature (10(7.5) K). Results from test calculations of the resonance-enhanced EIE processes among 16 levels from the n <= 5 configurations using both the Dirac R-matrix (DRM) and IPIRDW approaches agree very well with each other. This means that the close coupling effects are not important for this ion, and thus warrants the reliability of present resonance enhanced EIE data among the 27 levels. The results from the collisional-radiative model (CRM) show that, at 3000 eV, near where Cu-like Au is most abundant, RE contributions have important effects (up to 25%) on the density diagnostic line intensity ratios, which are sensitive near 10(20) cm(-3). The present work is the first EIE research including RE contributions for Cu-like Au. Our EIE data are more accurate than previous results due to our consideration of RE contributions, and the data should be helpful for modeling and diagnosing a variety of plasmas. • Benchmarking Multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock Calculations for Astrophysics : Si-like Ions from Cr xi to Zn xvii
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series. - : Institute of Physics Publishing (IOPP). - 0067-0049 .- 1538-4365. ; 257:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The multiconfiguration Dirac-Hartree-Fock (MCDHF) and relativistic configuration interaction methods are used to provide excitation energies, lifetimes, and radiative transition data for the 604 (699, 702, 704, 704, 704, and 699) lowest levels of the 3s (2)3p (2), 3s3p (3), 3s (2)3p3d, 3p (4), 3s3p (2)3d, 3s (2)3d (2), 3p (3)3d, 3s3p3d (2), 3s3d (3), 3p3d (3), 3p (2)3d (2), 3s (2)3p4s, 3s (2)3p4p, 3s (2)3p4d, 3s (2)3p4f, 3s3p (2)4s, 3s3p (2)4p, 3s3p (2)4d, 3s3p (2)4f, 3s (2)3d4s, 3s (2)3d4p, 3p (3)4s, 3p (3)4p, 3s3p3d4s, 3s (2)3p5s, and 3s (2)3p5p configurations in Cr xi, (Mn xii, Fe xiii, Co xiv, Ni xv, Cu xvi, and Zn xvii). Previous line identifications of Fe xiii and Ni xv in the EUV and X-ray wavelength ranges are reviewed by comprehensively comparing the MCDHF theoretical results with available experimental data. Many recent identifications of Fe xiii and Ni xv lines are confirmed, and several new identifications for these two ions are proposed. A consistent atomic data set with spectroscopic accuracy is provided for the lowest hundreds of levels for Si-like ions of iron-group elements of astrophysical interest, for which experimental values are scarce. The uncertainty estimation method suggested by Kramida, applied to the comparison of the length and velocity line strength values, is used for ranking the transition data. The correlation of the latter with the gauge dependency patterns of the line strengths is investigated.
