  • Optical simulation and preparation of novel Mo/ZrSiN/ZrSiON/SiO2 solar selective absorbing coating
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Solar Energy Materials and Solar Cells. - : Elsevier BV. - 0927-0248 .- 1879-3398. ; 167, s. 178-183
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A novel Mo/ZrSiN/ZrSiON/SiO2 solar selective absorbing coating has been investigated, which was prepared by magnetron sputtering on stainless steel substrate. A high solar absorptance of 0.94 and a low thermal emittance of 0.06 at 25 degrees C were achieved. By proportionally decreasing the thicknesses of the ZrSiN, ZrSiON and SiO2 layers, the thermal emittance at 500 degrees C was decreased significantly from 0.19 to 0.12 (Delta epsilon = 0.07) while keeping the solar absorptance unchanged. The coating also showed high thermal stability at 500 degrees C in vacuum, implying that it is a promising candidate for high temperature concentrated solar power (CSP) applications.

  • Towards 6G wireless communication networks: vision, enabling technologies, and new paradigm shifts
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Science China Information Sciences. - : Science Press. - 1674-733X .- 1869-1919. ; 64:1
  • Forskningsöversikt (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The fifth generation (5G) wireless communication networks are being deployed worldwide from 2020 and more capabilities are in the process of being standardized, such as mass connectivity, ultra-reliability, and guaranteed low latency. However, 5G will not meet all requirements of the future in 2030 and beyond, and sixth generation (6G) wireless communication networks are expected to provide global coverage, enhanced spectral/energy/cost efficiency, better intelligence level and security, etc. To meet these requirements, 6G networks will rely on new enabling technologies, i.e., air interface and transmission technologies and novel network architecture, such as waveform design, multiple access, channel coding schemes, multi-antenna technologies, network slicing, cell-free architecture, and cloud/fog/edge computing. Our vision on 6G is that it will have four new paradigm shifts. First, to satisfy the requirement of global coverage, 6G will not be limited to terrestrial communication networks, which will need to be complemented with non-terrestrial networks such as satellite and unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communication networks, thus achieving a space-air-ground-sea integrated communication network. Second, all spectra will be fully explored to further increase data rates and connection density, including the sub-6 GHz, millimeter wave (mmWave), terahertz (THz), and optical frequency bands. Third, facing the big datasets generated by the use of extremely heterogeneous networks, diverse communication scenarios, large numbers of antennas, wide bandwidths, and new service requirements, 6G networks will enable a new range of smart applications with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI) and big data technologies. Fourth, network security will have to be strengthened when developing 6G networks. This article provides a comprehensive survey of recent advances and future trends in these four aspects. Clearly, 6G with additional technical requirements beyond those of 5G will enable faster and further communications to the extent that the boundary between physical and cyber worlds disappears.

  • Multicell power allocation method based on game theory for inter-cell interference coordination
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: Science China Information Sciences. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1869-1919 .- 1674-733X. ; 52:12, s. 2378-2384
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • As a new technology, coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission is included in LTE-Advanced study item. Moreover, the network architecture in LTE-Advanced system is modified to take into account coordinated transmission. Under this background, a novel power allocation game model is established to mitigate inter-cell interference with cellular coordination. In the light of cellular cooperation relationship and centralized control in eNodeB, the power allocation in each served antenna unit aims to make signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINR) balanced among inter-cells. Through the proposed power allocation game algorithm, the users’ SINR can reach the Nash equilibrium, making it feasible to reduce the co-frequency interference by decreasing the transmitted power. Numerical results show that the proposed power allocation algorithm improves the throughput both in cell-center and cell-edge. Moreover, the blocking rate in cell-edge is reduced too.

  • Investigations on electronic, Fermi surface, Curie temperature and optical properties of Zr2CoAl
  • 2017
  • Ingår i: Journal of Solid State Chemistry. - : ACADEMIC PRESS INC ELSEVIER SCIENCE. - 0022-4596 .- 1095-726X. ; 247, s. 97-104
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Using full-potential local-orbital minimum-basis along with spin-polarized relativistic Korringa-Kohn-Rostoker methods, we study the electronic, Fermi surface, Curie temperature and optical properties of Zr2CoAl alloy. The alloy with Li2AgSb and Cu2MnAl structures are compared in terms of magnetic properties, and the electronic structures in two structures are also discussed. According to the calculated electronic states, it finds that the Zr2CoAl with Li2AgSb structure is half-metallic ferromagnet with an integral magnetic moment of 2.00 mu(beta), meanwhile we also notice the d-d and p-d hybridizations are responsible for the formation of minority-spin gap, furthermore, the fat-bands are applied to discuss the mixture between d and p electrons in the vicinity of the Fermi level. The Fermi surfaces related to the valence bands are constructed, and it is found that the spin-up valence bands 26, 27 and 28 across the Fermi energy dominate the nature of electrons. By mapping the system onto a Heisenberg Hamiltonian, we obtain the exchange coupling parameters, and observe that the Zr(A)-Co(C) and Zr(A)-Zr(B) interactions provide a major contribution for exchange interactions. Based on the calculated exchange coupling parameters, the Curie temperature is estimated to be 287.86 K at equilibrium, and also the dependence of Curie temperature on lattice constant related to the tunable Curie temperature in Zr2CoAl alloy is studied. Finally, we report the optical properties of Zr2CoAl alloy, and present the photon energy dependence of the absorption, the optical conductivity and the loss function.

  • Mechanism of fluidized chlorination reaction of Kenya natural rutile ore
  • 2014
  • Ingår i: Rare Metals. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1001-0521 .- 1867-7185. ; 33:4, s. 485-492
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • In this paper, the thermodynamics and kinetics of nature rutile carbochlorination in a fluidized-bed were investigated. The thermodynamic calculations of TiO2-C-Cl-2 system show that when C is excess in the solid phase, titanium tetrachloride and carbon monoxide can exist stably. At high temperature, the reaction with CO as the product is the dominant reaction. The appropriate reaction conditions are as follows: reaction temperature of 950 A degrees C, reaction time of 40 min, carbon ratio of 30 wt% of rutile, natural rutile particle size of -96 mu m, petroleum coke size of -150 mu m, and chlorine flow of 0.036 m(3)center dot h(-1). Under the above conditions, the reaction conversion rate of TiO2 can reach about 95 %. This paper proposed a reaction rate model, and got a rutile chlorination rate formula, which is generally consistent with the experimental data. For the TiO2-C-Cl-2 system, the reaction rate is dependent on the initial radius of rutile particle, density, and the partial pressures of Cl-2. From 900 to 1,000 A degrees C, the apparent activation energy is 10.569 kJ center dot mol(-1), and the mass diffusion is found to be the main reaction-controlling step. The expression for the chlorine reaction rate in the C-Cl-2 system is obtained, and it depends on the degree of reaction, the partial pressure of Cl-2, and the size of rutile particle.

  • Adjusting Competitive Reaction to Control Nucleation and Growth of MnO2 for a High-Stress Output Electrochemical Actuator
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: ACS APPLIED ELECTRONIC MATERIALS. - : AMER CHEMICAL SOC. - 2637-6113. ; 5:9, s. 4836-4845
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Manganese dioxide (MnO2) with biocompatibility has promising applications in low-voltage electrochemical actuators of implantable medical devices, which can convert electrical energy to mechanical motion. However, the unsatisfactory actuation strain restricts the generation of a larger output stress of MnO2 for practical application. Herein, a competitive reaction-driven-MnO2 (CRD-MnO2) nanorod network was fabricated on a nickel (Ni) thin-film substrate by adjusting the component molar ratios. We find that the competitive reaction between 3,4-ethylene-dioxythiophene (EDOT) polymerization and oxidation of Mn2+ controls the nucleation and growth behavior of MnO2. The variation in the electron environment, newly generated oxygen vacancies, and a higher content of structural water effectively improve the electroactivity of MnO2 and simultaneously cause more serious Jahn-Teller (JT) distortion of the crystal octahedrons. Thus, an excellent output performance simultaneously having a much higher actuating strain of 8.3% and an actuation stress of 390.1 MPa is generated during a redox reaction between Mn4+ and Mn3+ under 0-1 V. Moreover, the CRD-MnO2/Ni composite actuating films assembled on a 3D-printed resin model of a human hand with separated finger joints can perform smooth grasping and releasing actions, demonstrating a huge potential for in vitro rehabilitation exercises and implantability for people with finger dyskinesia. This work provides a strategy for actuator material fabrication by controlling a nucleation and growth process by adjusting a competitive reaction.

  • Numerical Simulation of a Round Determinate Panel Test of Combined Concrete Panel and Welded Wire Mesh
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: Paper presented at the ISRM International Symposium - 10th Asian Rock Mechanics Symposium, Singapore, October 2018. - : International Society for Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering / Society for Rock Mechanics and Engineering Geology.
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The sprayed concrete layer, together with external welded wire mesh, has been widely used as an important surface support in underground excavation in civil and mining engineering. Recently, the load carrying capability of combined concrete layer and welded wire mesh was evaluated by a round determinate panel (RDP) test. However, performance assessment by using RDP specimens is hindered by the testing boundary condition and the failure pattern and mechanism of combined concrete layer and welded wire mesh remains unclear. In this paper, the numerical model of the RDP test was set up by means of a FEM code, ABAQUS, and a series of numerical tests were carried out to investigate the failure mechanism and the influence of boundary condition on the performance of the RDP tests. To ensure the constitutive model of concrete embedded in ABAQUS and the material parameters were correctly used, the numerical models were first calibrated by the laboratory results with different concrete panel thickness without using welded wire mesh. After that, the performance of the combined concrete layer and welded wire mesh was examined by using the calibrated concrete model and mesh model and the failure mechanism of the combined specimens was obtained. The results show that the failure pattern matches the laboratory observation rather well and the peak load carrying capacity of the combined concrete layer and welded wire mesh panel is a little higher than that of the concrete only panel but the residual load carrying capacity has been improved. The boundary condition has large effect on the load-displacement curve, which is discussed in detail in the paper. The objective was to develop a numerical methodology which could be used to evaluate the load carrying capacity of combined concrete layer and welded wire mesh and thereby improve the assessment of the performance of shotcrete and welded wire mesh on site.

  • Effect of fault on tunnel stability with different distribution
  • 2013
  • Ingår i: Global View of Engineering Geology and the Environment. - London : CRC Press, Taylor & Francis Group. - 9781138000780 ; , s. 279-285
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • For tunnel engineering, the fault that locates near tunnel always plays an important role on the stability of the surrounding rock mass and the safety of the supporting system. To investigate the influence of the fault on the tunnel stability, systematic numerical experiments are carried out via the FINAL code. Through these numerical experiment results, the displacement and the distribution of the stress in surrounding rock mass are analyzed for these cases of the different locations and dips of fault around tunnel periphery, and the stress in the sprayed concrete layer are analyzed as well. To simulate the characteristics of the fault located in the rock mass, the COJO element, embedded in the FINAL code, is used in all numerical experiments. The quantized results reflecting the rules of the change for the displacement, stress, plastic region in the surrounding rock mass are obtained also in this paper.

  • Automatic Myotendinous Junction Tracking in Ultrasound Images with Phase-Based Segmentation.
  • 2018
  • Ingår i: BioMed Research International. - : Hindawi Limited. - 2314-6133 .- 2314-6141.
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Displacement of the myotendinous junction (MTJ) obtained by ultrasound imaging is crucial to quantify the interactive length changes of muscles and tendons for understanding the mechanics and pathological conditions of the muscle-tendon unit during motion. However, the lack of a reliable automatic measurement method restricts its application in human motion analysis. This paper presents an automated measurement of MTJ displacement using prior knowledge on tendinous tissues and MTJ, precluding the influence of nontendinous components on the estimation of MTJ displacement. It is based on the perception of tendinous features from musculoskeletal ultrasound images using Radon transform and thresholding methods, with information about the symmetric measures obtained from phase congruency. The displacement of MTJ is achieved by tracking manually marked points on tendinous tissues with the Lucas-Kanade optical flow algorithm applied over the segmented MTJ region. The performance of this method was evaluated on ultrasound images of the gastrocnemius obtained from 10 healthy subjects (26.0±2.9 years of age). Waveform similarity between the manual and automatic measurements was assessed by calculating the overall similarity with the coefficient of multiple correlation (CMC). In vivo experiments demonstrated that MTJ tracking with the proposed method (CMC = 0.97±0.02) was more consistent with the manual measurements than existing optical flow tracking methods (CMC = 0.79±0.11). This study demonstrated that the proposed method was robust to the interference of nontendinous components, resulting in a more reliable measurement of MTJ displacement, which may facilitate further research and applications related to the architectural change of muscles and tendons. • Assessment of IsPETase-Assisted Depolymerization of Terephthalate Aromatic Polyesters and the Effect of the Thioredoxin Fusion Domain
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: Applied Sciences (Switzerland). - : MDPI AG. - 2076-3417. ; 11:18
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Terephthalate polyesters such as poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) have been massively produced over the last few decades due to their attractive properties in multiple applications. However, due to their limited biodegradability, they have accumulated in landfills and oceans, posing an environmental threat. Enzymatic recycling technologies are predicted to generate long-term socioeconomic benefits. In the present work, we compared the IsPETase (from Ideonella sakaiensis 201-F6) activity on a series of polyesters, including poly(butylene) terephthalate (PBT), poly(hexamethylene) terephthalate (PHT) and Akestra™, with PET. The IsPETase showed remarkable activity toward PET (39% degradation of the original polyester) that was higher than that toward Akestra™ (0.13%), PBT (0.25%) and PHT (0.13%) after 72 h. Thus, based on experimental data and computational analysis, we report insights into IsPETase activity on a series of terephthalate-based polyesters. Aside from that, the fusion domain (Trx) effect in the production and activity of a recombinant Trx-IsPETase is reported.
