  • Method and arrangement for advanced routing metrics in multihop networks
  • 2005
  • Patent (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • NOVELTY - The multichannel characteristics of the wireless links between network nodes such as mobile station, are estimated based on explicit channel matrix estimation and number of transmit and receive antennas used by the node for multiple channel provision. The link cost is determined for the link based on the determined characteristics. USE - For determining link cost of network nodes such as mobile station and base station, used for routing in partially wireless multi-hop network e.g. ad-hoc multi-hop network and fully wireless multi-hop network such as adaptive beam-forming network or multiple input multiple output (MIMO) network and also for multi-hopping in cellular communication system. ADVANTAGE - Route selection in wireless multi-hop network is improved using enhanced routing metrics. High throughput, reduced delay or high network load operation is achieved. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are included for the following: (1) method of link-cost based route determination; (2) method of link-cost based routing of data; (3) arrangement for determining link cost ; (4) arrangement for link-cost based route determination; and (5) arrangement for link-cost based routing of data. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The figure shows the flowchart of data routing process including link cost determination and route determination.

  • Method and device for joint retransmission
  • 2005
  • Patent (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • NOVELTY - A data stream is partitioned at a transmitting node into at least two data sub streams which undergo beam forming before being transmitted over a first link to the respective relay nodes. At least one restorable representation of the received sub stream from each relay node is forwarded over a second link to at least one receiving node where the representation is decoded and multiplexed to form an output signal corresponding to the data stream. USE - For wireless communication system. ADVANTAGE - Provides improved relaying scheme in communication system. Enables spatial multiplexing with improved spectrum efficiency. Allocates power between transmitter and relays with decreased power consumption and reduced generated interference. Enables cooperative relaying with increased overall system capacity. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (A) a communication system; (B) a transmitting node; (C) a relay node; and (D) a receiver node. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The figure is a schematic flow diagram of the cooperative relaying method.

  • Multihop route`s link parameters controlling method, involves determining parameter common to all links along entire multihop route based on given end-to-end transmit parameter constraint, and assigning parameters for each link.
  • 2005
  • Patent (populärvet., debatt m.m.)abstract
    • NOVELTY - The method involves determining a parameter common to all links along an entire multihop route based on a given end-to-end (ETE) transmit parameter constraint. A set of three interdependent link transmit parameters is assigned for each number of links, where each parameter is dependent on local link characteristics such as a link transmit parameter representative of link transmit energy, link transmit time, link transmit bandwidth and link code word consumption, and a link transmit parameter representative of link transmit power, based on a common parameter and the local link characteristics. USE - Used for controlling link parameters for a multihop route in a multihop network (claimed). ADVANTAGE - The determination of common parameter to all links along the entire multihop route based on the given end-to-end (ETE) transmit parameter constraint more flexibly and efficiently assigns/allocates link transmit parameters in a multihop network, thus providing improved method for controlling link transmit parameters for a route in the multihop network. The method more optimally utilizes the available network resources for transmitting information over the links, while ensuring a certain quality for the route and minimizes the use of expensive resources such as transmit energy/power. The improved method performs efficient multihop routing, joint routing and end-to-end (ETE) considerate link control, enables improved link adaptation and power control strategy and allows reduced interference, specific absorption rates (SAR) and increased battery lifetime. DETAILED DESCRIPTION - INDEPENDENT CLAIMS are also included for the following: (1) a method of routing in a multihop network (2) an arrangement for controlling link parameters for a multihop route (3) an arrangement for routing in a multihop network (4) an apparatus for controlling link parameters for a multihop route, comprising a resource controller. DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING(S) - The drawing shows a schematic flow representation of a method for controlling link transmit parameters for a multihop route.
