  • Collective excitations and band termination in Nb-85
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Physics A. - 0375-9474 .- 1873-1554. ; 645:1, s. 47-60
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • High-spin states in Nb-85 were studied using the GAMMASPHERE Ge detector array and the MICROBALL charged-particle detector system. Three gamma-ray cascades with collective rotational characteristics were observed. One of the bands exhibits a forking at the top, most likely reflecting the termination of one branch into a favoured non-collective, near spherical state. The data are interpreted in terms of cranked Strutinsky-type calculations.

  • Measurements of intense beams of Li-11 from a tantalum foil target
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Nuclear Instruments and Methods in Physics Research, Section B: Beam Interactions with Materials and Atoms. - 0168-583X. ; 155:4, s. 515-517
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The yields of Li-11 from a tantalum target, constructed from very thin foils, have been measured at ISOLDE and found to be an order of magnitude greater than those previously measured for a standard roll foil target. The modifications to the existing target designs were based on theoretical modelling calculations. The tantalum foils are 2 mu m thick and the target mass is only one tenth of normal foil targets. • Automatic Detection of Hypoperfused Areas in SPECT Brain Scans
  • 1998
  • Ingår i: IEEE Transactions on Nuclear Science. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 0018-9499 .- 1558-1578. ; 45:4, s. 2149-2154
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Describes a method for automatic identification of areas with perfusion changes in SPECT brain images. An intersubject registration technique is used to stereotactically register images from a selected control group allowing for reference images to be created by averaging the subjects image data. An individual SPECT brain scan can be brought into registration with the reference image and comparison to the normal reference group can be made by subtracting the two volumes. Furthermore, since the variance in the reference group is known, a z-score image or an image coded in standard deviations, can be computed. The SPECT reference volume is defined in the same coordinate system as a brain atlas, and anatomical labeling of areas of interest is possible. The authors show results from the creation of an average image based on 11 individuals and from its comparison with pathological cases

  • Species identification of bivalve larvae using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD): differentiation between Cerastoderma edule and C-lamarcki
  • 1999
  • Ingår i: Journal of the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom. - 0025-3154. ; 79:3, s. 563-565
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The polymerase chain reaction (PCR) was used to produce species-specific DNA markers (RAPDs) from two sibling cockle species and five other co-occurring intertidal bivalves. Amplification reactions with one single primer readily distinguished larvae and adults of Cerastoderma edule from larvae and adults of C. lamarcki, and from adults of Mya arenaria Macoma balthica, Scrobicularia plana, Venerupis pulastra and Mytilus edulis. Random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) is suggested as a simple and quick method to determine species identity in taxa that are difficult to identify on the basis of morphological characters alone, such as marine bivalve larvae.
