  • Influence of gate metal film growth parameters on the properties of gas sensitive field-effect devices
  • 2002
  • Ingår i: Thin Solid Films. - 0040-6090 .- 1879-2731. ; 409:2, s. 233-242
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Thin films of Pt have been grown as gate metals on the oxide surface of gas sensitive field-effect devices. Both electron beam evaporation and dc magnetron sputtering has been used. The energy of the impinging Pt atoms, the substrate temperature and the thickness of the Pt film were used as parameters in this study. The influence of the growth parameters on the gas response has been investigated and compared with the properties of the films, studied by transmission electron microscopy, Auger electron spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The conditions during growth of the Pt film are found to have a large impact on the properties of the device. As expected, crystallinity, morphology and the metal/substrate interfacial structure are also affected by processing parameters. Three different growth processes stand out as the most promising from gas sensor considerations, namely room temperature evaporation, sputtering at high pressures and sputtering at high temperatures. The correlation between gas responses and properties of the gas sensitive layer is discussed. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.

  • On the Analytics of the Dynamic Laffer Curve
  • 2000
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • In this paper, we analyze government budget balance within a simple model of endogenous growth. For the AK model, simple analytical conditions for a tax cut to be self-financing can be derived. The critical variable is not the tax rate per se, but the "transfer-adjusted tax rate". We discuss some conceptual issues in dynamic revenue analysis, and we explain why previous studies have arrived at seemingly contradictory results. Finally, we perform an empirical study of the transfer-adjusted tax rates of the OECD countries to see which country has the highest potential for fiscal improvements; it turns out that only a few countries have any potential for such "dynamic scoring".

  • Old Practices – New Technology : Observation of how established practices meet new technology
  • 2000
  • Ingår i: Designing Cooperative Systems. - Amsterdam : IOS Press. - 9781586030421 ; , s. 35-49
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Most technology for command and control units is developed from top-down visions and models of an ideal team and technology fit. Such models seldom pay attention to social and historical practises. In Sweden there is a futuristic command and control post under development. The system is intended for civilian and military handling of crises. In spring 1999, a training session was carried out in an elaborated virtual environment. The session was video recorded. In this paper we present and discuss our observations from this session. We have especially focused on the team organisation and use of technology from a bottom-up perspective. As we suspected we found a clash between old practices and what new technology affords. We describe our observations and discuss them in connection to how the system is coupled to external units. One main conclusion is that the team members seem to be more coupled to their subordinate units than to the command and control team.

  • Gender and Overconfidence
  • 2004
  • Rapport (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Do males differ from females in terms of self-confidence? The structure of the Economics I exam at Stockholm University provides an opportunity to shed some light in this question. By answering an extra, optional question, the students can aim for a higher mark. We find a clear gender difference in that male students are inclined than female students to take this opportunity. This difference in self-assessment is more pronounced among younger than among older students.

  • The Effect of Different Transport Models in Simulation of High Frequency 4H-SiC and 6H-SiC Vertical MESFETs
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Solid-State Electronics. - 0038-1101 .- 1879-2405. ; 45:5, s. 645-653
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • A full band Monte Carlo (MC) study of the high frequency performance of a 4H-SiC Short channel vertical MESFET is presented. The MC model used is based on data from a full potential band structure calculation using the local density approximation to the density functional theory. The MC results have been compared with simulations using state of the art drift-diffusion and hydrodynamic transport models. Transport parameters such as mobility, saturation velocity and energy relaxation time are extracted from MC simulations

  • Dynamics of the spin transition in the adsorption of hydrogen atoms on metals
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Surface Science. - : Elsevier BV. - 0039-6028. ; 566-568:1-3 part 2, s. 761-766
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The time-dependent, mean-field Newns-Anderson model is solved in the wide-band limit. Equations for the time-evolution of the occupation of the spin-dependent adsorbate levels and for the rate of non-adiabatic energy transfer from adsorbate to substrate are derived. Numerical solutions are obtained in the region of space close to the transition point between spin-polarised and non-polarised ground states, for model parameters that correspond to an H-atom incident on the Cu(111) surface. Away from the spin transition the non-adiabatic energy transfer is in close agreement with the nearly-adiabatic limit. Near the transition, non-adiabatic effects are large and the nearly-adiabatic approximation fails.
