Query Logs as a Corpus.
- 2013
-
In: Corpus Linguistics 2013 : abstract book. Lancaster: UCREL / edited by Andrew Hardie and Robbie Love.
-
Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
- This paper provides a detailed description of a large Swedish health-related query log corpus and explores means to derive useful statistics, their distributions and analytics from its content across several dimensions. Information acquisition from query logs can be useful for several purposes and potential types of users, such as terminologists, infodemiologists / epidemiologists, medical data and web analysts, specialists in NLP technologies such as information retrieval and text mining but also public officials in health and safety organizations.

Effect Of Network Topology On The Performance Of ADMM-based SVMs
- 2018

In: Proceedings 2018 30th International Symposium on Computer Architecture and High Performance Computing SBAC-PAD 2018. - : IEEE Computer Society. - 9781538677698 - 9781538677704 ; , s. 388-393

Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
- Alternating Direction Method Of Multipliers(ADMM) is one of the promising frameworks for training Support Vector Machines (SVMs) on large-scale data in adistributed manner. In a consensus-based ADMM, nodes may only communicate with one-hop neighbors and this may cause slow convergence. In this paper, we investigate the impact of network topology on the convergence speed of ADMM-basedSVMs using expander graphs. In particular, we investigate how much the expansion property of the network influence the convergence and which topology is preferable. Besides, we supply an implementation making these theoretical advances practically available. The results of the experiments show that graphs with large spectral gaps and higher degrees exhibit accelerated convergence.

Building complex GUIs in Plan 9
- 2009
-
In: Proceedings 4th International Workshop on Plan9. - Athens, GA : University of Georgia. ; , s. 15-21

Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
- How can non-trivial graphical user interfaces be designed in Plan 9 without them losing their minimalistic style? Different toolkits are discussed, and a proposal for a tabbed toolbar is suggested as a way to add functionality without cluttering the interface and avoiding the use of pop-up dialog boxes. A hypothetical port to the GUI in LyX is used as an example.
