The theme of the conference this year was on inclusion and exclusion as social processes. Twenty-two papers were accepted and presented at the conference. Keynote speech was given by Dr Siân Jones from Oxford Brookes University and Dr Ken Mavor from University of St Andrews. In line with the main theme of the conference, Siân Jones talked about “Bullying and belonging: Experimental data, real-world data, tears, and tantrums”. Ken Mavor talked about “Encapsulating the things that matter: Exploring identities for learning, social action and wellbeing”.The topics of the individual papers at GRASP 2014 were: (a) the role of categorization in personal change through participation in collective action, (b) students’ perspectives on bullying incidents, (c) mindfulness in values education in schools, (d) team-training and the executive team’s organizational influence, (e) using discursive psychology to show how students do ‘being collaborative’ in group work, (f) operational leadership and knowledge-transfer in high risk operations, (g) communication of risk in oil and gas megaprojects, (h) verbal expressions of “compassion” in an academic context, (i) a descriptive study of work groups in the Swedish and U.S. economy, (j) challenges and panaceas, as experienced by physicians, when introducing a patient centred and team based round, (k) leadership and communication in cross-cultural teams in a study of Korean/Scandinavian collaboration, (l) conscientiousness and agreeableness among prisoners, (m) ‘dark values’ – the dark triad hiding in Schwartz’ value orientation, (n) gender and legitimacy in student project groups, (o) between Skylla and Karybdis within academia – peer leadership or management, (p) illusion of invulnerability, need for cognition and resisting persuasion, (q) the significance of management climate on the quality of elderly care, (r) benevolence towards men and women, and traditional views of upbringing – a backlash to gender equality, (s) the role of equality in the decision making process in small groups, (t) bullying and defender behaviour amongst school children – the importance of moral emotions and moral disengagement, and (u) development of learning models through social experiments considering widening recruitment of university students. These proceedings bring you seven of the 22 papers from the conference.

  • The Purpose of Internationalization - Future Teachers' Perspectives
  • 2023
  • Editorial proceedings (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The purpose of internationalization in higher education differs between countries and is shaped by educational stakeholders, policymakers, and governments. Interestingly, the purpose of internationalization for the individuals who are most affected by internationalization policies and practices, namely the students, remains largely unknown. Hence, this study investigates the purpose of internationalization from the perspective of a group of international prospective teachers studying at a Swedish university. The results indicate that these students have a complex and flexible view of internationalization, particularly in light of current global tensions. The importance of taking student viewpoints into account is emphasized when formulating internationalization strategies.

  • CALL and complexity – short papers from EUROCALL 2019
  • 2019
  • Editorial proceedings (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The theme selected for the 2019 EuroCALL conference held in Louvain-la-Neuve was ‘CALL and complexity’. We decided to opt for a positive vision of complexity. As languages are known to be intrinsically and linguistically complex, as are the many determinants of learning (additional) languages, we wanted to view complexity as a challenge to be embraced collectively. The 2019 conference allowed us to pay tribute to providers of Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL) solutions and to recognize the complexity of their task, to acknowledge the notion of complexity to ensure the provision of ad hoc CALL solutions, and to draw both learners’ and teachers’ attention to complexity issues so that they can make the most of their learning/teaching experience

  • "Dig where You Stand" 6 : Proceedings of the Sixth International Conference on the History of Mathematics Education
  • 2020
  • Editorial proceedings (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The history of mathematics education is an interdisciplinary research area that is experiencing a significant development and this book presents recent work in this area. This book is the result of the sixth conference ICHME (In-ternational Conference on the History of Mathematics Education) that took place at CIRM, Luminy (France) from 16th to 20th of September 2019. Nowadays, the history of education is of the utmost importance for assessing the general development of the educational system(s) in which mathematics education occurs. Usually, the history of education is confined to history within a given civilization, country or nation. However, the quality of the research for a given nation is enhanced when situated among various specific cases, and comparative studies provide essential tools to broaden the perspectives to an international level. Moreover, mathematics, as a school discipline, has always functioned at the crossroads between general education and professional training, thus relating its teaching history to professional working environments as well. The themes dealt with in this book reflect this wide area of research. The book contains 28 chapters grouped in four parts concerning teaching of particular mathematical domains, teaching in cultural and national contexts, pedagogical movements and reforms, and methods of teaching.

  • Forskarskolan FRAM : lärare forskar i de främmande språkens didaktik
  • 2021
  • In: Language and Literature in Education 1: Forskarskolan FRAM – lärare forskar i de främmande språkens didaktik. - Stockholm : Stockholm University Press. - 9789176351314 - 9789176351291
  • Editorial proceedings (peer-reviewed)abstract
Deras arbeten presenteras i separata kapitel. I inledningen ger bokens redaktörer en inblick i hur en forskarskola för lärare kan vara upplagd och hur FRAM bidragit till det expanderande och mångfacetterade forskningsfältet Språkdidaktik.

  • Proceedings of the 21st Student Conference in Interaction Technology and Design
  • 2021
  • Editorial proceedings (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The Student Conference in Interaction Technology and Design is the annual grand finale of the course Current Topic in Interaction Technology and Design at the Department of Applied Physics and Electronics, Umeå University, Sweden. The main objective of the course is to give the participants a forum, where they can actively discuss scientific research and development through the implementation of their own ideas and interests. The course introduces students to independently finding and researching a topic of interest for them, finding related sources of information and related research publications, writing a scientific article, peer-reviewing, and presenting their work at a conference. The course is conducted in English which is a foreign language for most of the students. The final examination format is chosen as a conference to provide a realistic environment for the presentation of the results. The work of each student has been reviewed by other participants on the course and members of the department acting not only as teachers and consultants but also as program committee members. If the reviews are favorable, the paper is accepted as a full paper at the conference and included in the proceedings.
