  • Friluftsliv i förändring. Studier från svenska upplevelselandskap.
  • 2014
  • Editorial collection (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • Restorative justice in Belgian prisons : the results of an empirical research
  • 2013
  • In: Crime, law and social change. - : Springer Nature. - 0925-4994 .- 1573-0751. ; 59:1, s. 79-111
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Justice – when spelled with a capital ‘J’ – should be discursive [31] and based on equal respect ([40]: 206, 210) allowing a plurality of voices within the discourse. Particularly in the present research, this thread of pluralism is important. Prisoners’ voices have rarely been heard. Yet, if we wish to be true to the principle that restorative justice is discursive, it follows that the discourse is not complete without also accommodating their voices. To date, little research attention has been paid to the inner motivations of imprisoned offenders for willing to participate in restorative justice initiatives, as well as to their perceptions about their relationships with the victim and the community and the impact of religion on them. Hence, the present empirical study, conducted in several prisons across Belgium, endeavours to shed light on these aspects that have been theoretically overlooked, providing valuable information at policy-level about the design of future restorative justice programmes.

  • Restorative justice in custodial settings : altering the focus of imprisonment
  • 2011
  • In: Acta Criminologica: African Journal of Criminology and Victimology. ; 24:1, s. 44-66
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • To what extend is the traditional model of imprisonment still relevant today? Has the time come for a radical re-thinking of the notion of punishment? Is restorative justice the notion that will 'penetrate' the prisons' walls and manage to alter and re-shape the concept of imprisonment? Restorative justice advocates have been sceptical about the compatibility and appropriateness of implementing restorative programmes in prison regimes. Although such programmes, being largely at an experimental phase, have already been developed within custodial settings, critics still tend to be conflicted about the possibility of integrating a restorative justice ethos within a punishment-based institution, such as prison. These criticisms, raised in the present article, are based on existing conceptual and operational obstacles concerning the very nature of prisons, which are taken into consideration before envisaging or providing guidelines for the construction of a 'restorative prison'.

  • The Paradox of a Gender-Balanced Workforce : The Discursive Construction of Gender Among Swedish Social Workers
  • 2013
  • In: Affilia. - : SAGE Publications. - 0886-1099 .- 1552-3020. ; 28:1, s. 19-31
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Through a study of the narratives and practices in a gender-balanced social worksite, this article identifies institutionalized gender normalization processes. In the tales, the social workers told of their work, they reiterated the value of a gender-balanced workforce, together with the ideal of a gender-neutral profession. This view made it hard for the workers to see the ways in which the gender order they were involved in reproduces a gendered hierarchy in which male social workers are accorded greater value and an increased space of action, while female social workers and femininity are characterized by shortcomings when compared to men. © 2013 SAGE Publications.

  • From Profession to Practices in IT Design
  • 2012
  • In: Science, Technology and Human Values. - : SAGE Publications. - 0162-2439 .- 1552-8251. ; 37:6, s. 708-728
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In this article the argument is that in order to find women who participate in the design of IT, it is not enough to analyze gendered divisions of labor in terms of professional belongings but also to analyze the practices behind the professional categories that are involved in IT design. The purpose of the article is to explore how actors in various ways were configured during an IT design project. The article is based on an IT design project, and the empirical material for the study was gathered through the use of ethnographic methods, and analyzed diffractively. This analysis showed that the boundaries between actors shifted, that the actors were placed in several different positions, and that what was done in practices did not always fit with the formal positions. The analysis made it possible to see that in this IT design project, women were important participants on which the whole project depended. If this project is representative also for other IT design projects, the problem of women as outsiders of IT design could be rephrased, and the problem is no longer that women are not included in IT design, but that their participation does not always become visible. © The Author(s) 2012.

  • Emergent Writing Methodologies in Feminist Studies
  • 2011
  • Editorial collection (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Contemporary challenges for seeking new knowledge in feminist studies are intimately intertwined with methodological renewal that promotes justice and equality in changing global contexts. Written by some of the leading scholars in their fields, this edited collection focuses on the emergence of writing methodologies in feminist studies and their implications for the study of power and change. The book explores some of the central politics, ideas, and dimensions of power that shape and condition knowledge, at the same time as it elaborates critical, embodied, reflective and situated writing practices. By bringing together a variety of multi/transdisciplinary contributions in a single collection, the anthology offers a timely and intellectually stimulating contribution that deals with how new forms of writing research can contribute to promote fruitful analysis of inequality and power relations related to gender, racialisation, ethnicity, class and heteronormativity and their intersections. It also includes the complex relationship between author, text and audiences. The intended audience is postgraduates, researchers and academics within feminist and intersectionality studies across disciplines in the humanities and social sciences. The book is excellent as literature in feminist studies courses and helpful guidance for teaching writing sessions and workshops.
