Command and Control During Sweden’s Last War : the Introduction of Division and Army Corps in the Swedish Army: 1813–1814

• This article discusses the introduction of the division and the army corps in the Swedish army during the final stages of the Napoleonic Wars. I analyze the role of Fredrik Wilhelm af Tibell and the 1805 staff service regulation, the role of the 18th century divisional organization in the Swedish Army as well as the performance of the Swedish command and control system during the campaigns of 1813-1814. I use analytical models developed by Martin van Creveld and Berndt Brehmer.
