  • The Childhood and Youth as well as School Children Research as a heterogeneous field have their origin and common endeavour in the hypothesis that children acquire their world co-interpreting it and participating actively in its constituting. In consequence, research on childhood and youth is concentrating on the perspectives of children and adolescents. Accordingly School Children Research looks at the reality as it appears to pupils.Regarding the (scientific) reflection on lectures in school, it is of central interest how competences can be developed, fostered, maintained, exercised, instructed, approved etc. In the new national and regional curricula the core and specialized competences the pupils have gained informally in their everyday life, are considered as the starting point of educational processes in school. The further development of these competences forms the preliminary objectives in school. In order to conceptualize and explore the practical challenges connected with these objectives empirically the essential, general and complex question occurs how experience is built up in children and how they gain operational knowledge that is relevant in their life-worlds - actually and of course prospectively.
