- Energy from waste technologies (EfW) constitute a meeting point for waste management and energy sectors to work together and benefit from each other in the most efficient manner. EfW technologies provide a solution for waste management; while generate energy (e.g. electricity, heat or fuel transport) to meet the actual fossil-free fuels high demand. Selection of the most suitable technology is based on social, economic and technical factors and environmental strategies to ensure the best outcomes.This paper describes the importance of EfW in today´s society, gives a picture of the situation of the EfW market in different regions all over the world and discuss the main challenges that the EfW market is facing.
