  • Projectile Coulomb-Excitation with Fast Radioactive Beams
  • 1995
  • In: Zeitschrift fur Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 1431-5831 .- 0939-7922. ; 352:4, s. 397-401
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We report a search for gamma rays emanating from Coulomb excitation of fast (30-46 MeV/u) radioactive projectiles He-8, Be-11,Be-12,Be-14 interacting with a lead target. These are clearly identified by their Doppler shift. The 320 keV 1/2(-) --> 1/2(+)gamma transition from Be-11 was observed with a cross-section of 191 +/- 26 mb which is noticeably less than expected from the known lifetime and in the perturbation limit of pure Coulomb excitation. In the other nuclei rather stringent upper limits of 0.01 to 0.2 Weisskopf units, are placed on the hypothetical transition to 1(-) states.

  • CONFIRMATION OF THE SUPERDEFORMED BAND IN PB-192
  • 1995
  • In: Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 0939-7922 .- 1431-5831. ; 352:3, s. 239-240
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • High-spin states in Pb-192 were populated via the reaction Yb-173(Mg-24,5n) at a beam energy of 140 MeV, and the resulting gamma-rays were deteced using GAMMA-SPHERE. A previously observed superdeformed band in Pb-192 has been confirmed.

  • Single-step link of the superdeformed band in Eu-143
  • 1996
  • In: ZEITSCHRIFT FUR PHYSIK A-HADRONS AND NUCLEI. - : SPRINGER VERLAG. - 0939-7922. ; 355:4, s. 343-344
  • Journal article (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • A discrete gamma-ray transition with an energy of 3360.6 keV deexciting the second lowest SD state in Eu-143 has been discovered. It carries 3.2 % of the full intensity of the band and feeds into a nearly spherical state which is above the I = 35/2((+)),

  • Super-Allowed Beta-Decay of Nuclei at the Drip-Line
  • 1991
  • In: Zeitschrift fur Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 1431-5831 .- 0939-7922. ; 340:3, s. 255-261
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We have investigated the continuous particle spectra following the beta decay of the neutron-rich nuclei that terminate the mass 6, 8, 9 and 11 isobaric chains. Strong beta transitions feeding the very top of the spectrum are found systematically. The favoured states are within a few MeV of the energy of the initial state. This phenomenon seems to be linked to the occurrence of a di-neutron structure or neutron halo in the drip-line nuclei.

  • The Axial-Vector Strength in the Proton-Rich Argon Isotopes
  • 1989
  • In: Zeitschrift fur Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 1431-5831 .- 0939-7922. ; 332:4, s. 413-417
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The proton-rich isotopes32Ar-35Ar represent the first sequence for which the superallowed Gamow-Teller strength is known out toZ− N=4. The results are compared with two sets of predictions from large shell-model calculations, which give systematically different quenching factors, on the average 0.54 and 0.89. Possible reasons for this are discussed. A comparison is also made with the Gamow-Teller strength of proton-rich isotopes of neighbouring elements.

  • A signal of a narrow pi NN resonance in pp->pp pi(-)pi(+)
  • 1996
  • In: ZEITSCHRIFT FUR PHYSIK A-HADRONS AND NUCLEI. - : SPRINGER VERLAG. - 0939-7922. ; 355:1, s. 5-8
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We report on the first exclusive measurement of the 2 pi production in NN collisions at T-p = 750 MeV using a H-2 cluster jet target and the WASA/PROMICE detector at CELSIUS. In the invariant-mass spectrum M(pp pi-) we observe a narrow peak at 2.063(2) Ge

  • HIGH-SPIN STATES OF BA-120
  • 1991
  • In: Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 0939-7922 .- 1431-5831. ; 338:4, s. 461-462
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The very neutron deficient nucleus 120Ba has been investigated in a high-spin gamma-spectroscopic study. The yrast band of 120Ba is extended up to spin 22 h and one tentatively assigned negative-parity side band is observed up to spin 15 h. The experimental results are compared with Total Routhian Surface calculations.

  • NEUTRON AND PROTON H11/2 ALIGNMENT EFFECTS IN LA-121
  • 1991
  • In: Zeitschrift für Physik A Hadrons and Nuclei. - 0939-7922 .- 1431-5831. ; 338:4, s. 463-464
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In a gamma-spectroscopic study, excited states in the very neutron deficient nucleus 121La have been established for the first time. Rotational bands build on the 9/2+[404] and 1/2-[550] Nilsson orbitals are observed up to a maximum spin of tentatively 51/2 h. The experimental results are compared with Total Routhian Surface calculations.
