- Many studies have focused on retrospectively identifying critical success factors (CSFs) for healthcare information system (HIS) development projects. In this paper the central question is how in advance selected CSFs can be applied in the best way. An action research study has been carried out in a large Swedish healthcare organization during 2010 and 2011 where the application of four CSFs has been planned, documented and reflected upon. Challenges are identified that may arise when tailoring general CSFs to situational circumstances. For example, the self-evident CSF of ?having a clear and accepted objective? becomes tricky and complex in practice when facing 15 autonomous boards that all need to support the project. Similar insights are gained for other CSFs. More research is needed to illuminate the complexities of how to apply CSFs. Another important observation is that different CSFs strengthen one another, which implies that they should be applied and analysed in concert rather than isolated. Finally, healthcare practitioners need to be aware that CSFs are very helpful, but that tailoring general CSFs to the unique situation of the HIS development project requires much effort and continuous reflection from a holistic perspective embedded in systems thinking.

- Handheld computing and mobile information systems are continuously breaking new ground, with an increased importance for business. However, there is evidence that we still have lessons to learn concerning the design of handheld information systems. Handheld information system poses challenges to the designer in the unique properties of handheld technologies and the conditions of use of handheld technologies. Hence, this paper is based on the assumption that handheld information systems has unique properties, and dependencies between properties, that should to be considered in the design of such a system in order to design appropriate information systems for the mobile workforce. The purpose in this paper is to further enhance the usefulness of the Accentuated Factor Framework by describing dependencies between factors in the framework and by this enhance the efficacy in the design process. The theoretical foundation for the paper is the Accentuated Factor Framework, illustrating the unique properties of handheld information systems whereas the expected use settings are the mobile workforce. The empirical data collection was performed via interviews with experienced practitioners, case studies, workshops and studies of software. The Accentuated Factor Framework enhanced with explanatory dependencies between factors provides the opportunity to enhance the design process by reducing the risk of reengineering in design.

- Over the last decade, free and open source software (FOSS) has gradually become recognized by different actors in society outside FOSS communities and increasingly integrated in corporate software development, challenging proprietary software practices and establishing new open source companies. Literature describing this transition is focusing a narrow view on the value of using FOSS, mainly understanding it as an efficient alternative to established models for software development. This is not sufficient to fully understand the uptake of FOSS into companies. In order to gain a deeper understanding of this, there is a need to articulate a wider range of different values associated with FOSS and how they interplay in the intersection of corporations and movements. To do this we propose the order of worth framework developed by French sociologist Luc Boltanski and colleagues, which focus on the arrangements of value logics as an analytical strategy to understand how values form strong or weak arrangements in processes of institutionalization. By applying the framework on key texts from the free and open source software movement as well as on a an interview study with professional software developers employed by firms, we set out to identify how values associated with FOSS become justificatory arrangements that give legitimacy to FOSS and how these arrangements change over time, from the early free software movement to the emergent uptake of FOSS in contemporary professional software development. By understanding how justificatory logics come to play and interplay, corporations that want to adopt FOSS can better manage their engagement in FOSS activities. - In light of emerging product development trends, such as Product-Service Systems, manufacturing organizations are obliged to collaborate across functional and organizational borders. Hence, companies are increasingly investigating how to leverage knowledge management practices to enhance their dynamic learning capabilities to achieve continuous process improvements. Many researchers assert that lessons learned practices are possible ways for organizational learning, which allows for continuous capturing and sharing of experiential knowledge across boundaries in order to learn both from mistakes and successes. However, many organizations fall short in capturing and sharing lessons from projects and applying them in new situations. The purpose of this paper is to propose a video-based approach and related guidelines for capturing and sharing lessons learned in a dynamic manner across functional and organizational boundaries. Based on laboratory experiments as well as validation activities conducted in collaboration with an aerospace manufacturer, this paper compares the video-based approach with a more traditional text-based approach of documenting lessons learned from projects. The paper describes the results of testing activities conducted with a video-based lessons learned prototype and the authors reflect on its implications for design practice management in the aerospace industry.

Understanding business employees' conditions for participating in public e-service development

- Today there is an increased interest in user participation in development of public e-services, since it is expected to bring similar value as it has done in other types of systems development. Existing research, however, has shown that introducing user participation to public e-service development is associated with a number of challenges. In this paper we have explored three user participation schools, Participatory Design, User Centered Design and User Innovation, with regard to two challenges: a) businesses employees' current mandate and willingness to participate in public e-service development and b) business employees' ability to participate in public e-service development. Our interview results show that businesses employees do have mandate to participate and also want to do so. Moreover, business employees' ability to participate is high with respect to ICT knowledge but rather low with respect to knowledge regarding public authorities' business processes. In addition, their knowledge about laws and regulations that affect public authorities is limited. Altogether, this limits the possibilities to apply user participation schools, such as User Innovation, which rely on a high degree of user-responsibility in identifying problems and solutions.

- A good publication record is one of the most important prerequisites of a successful academic career in IS. Despite the weight hiring and promotion committees place on it, the definition of a "good publication record" especially for junior researchers remains unclear. Indeed, is it better to have one A-publication or three B-publications? Does being the third author on an A-publication have a bigger weight than being the first author on a B-publication? Should one strive to publish with as few coauthors as possible to demonstrate that one is capable of independent work? Facing these ambiguities, young researchers are increasingly asking themselves about the choices they make with regard to their publication strategy. Equally, academic mentors have a strong interest in correctly setting incentives of their young protégés. If unaddressed, uncertainty regarding these issues is bound to interfere with the quality of the IS research and scholars' job and life satisfaction. This panel proposal aims to offer a forum for discussion and clarification on these problematic issues. Specifically, the following topics will be raised: quantity vs. quality, value of the first authorship and optimal number of authors.
