    • In this article, I am going to return to the empirical data that I gathered when I worked on myPhD thesis,1 and here I will reflect on the material in the light of what has happened since then. During my fieldwork, I participated in the everyday life of 13 drivers and I travelled 25,000 kilometers all over Sweden and Europe. Over a total period of seven weeks, I lived as a participant observer in different truck cabins and gathered impressions from freight ferries, loading sites and social intercourse among truckers. I did 25 qualitative interviews with long-haul truck drivers andread hundreds of articles in different truck-related magazines.
