- Our overall goal is to support model-based approaches to verification and validation of communication protocols by techniques that automatically generate models of communication protocol entities from observations of their external behavior, using techniques based on regular inference (aka automata learning). In this paper, we address the problem that existing regular inference techniques produce "flat" state machines, whereas practically useful protocol models structure the internal state in terms of control locations and state variables, and describes dynamic behavior in a suitable (abstract) programming notation. We present a technique for introducing structure of an unstructured finite-state machine by introducing state variables and program-like descriptions of dynamic behavior, given a certain amount of user guidance. Our technique groups states with "similar control behavior" into control locations, and obtain program-like descriptions by means of decision tree generation. We have applied parts of our approach to an executable state machine specification of the Mobile Arts Advanced Mobile Location Center (A-MLC) protocol and evaluated the results by comparing them to the original specification.

- ObjectiveLoss of Asparaginase-like protein 1 (ASRGL1) has been suggested as a prognostic biomarker in endometrial carcinoma. Our objective was to validate this in a prospectively collected, independent patient cohort, and evaluate ASRGL1 expression in endometrial carcinoma precursor lesion and metastases.Methods782 primary endometrial carcinomas, 90 precursor lesions (complex atypical hyperplasia), and 179 metastases (from 87 patients) were evaluated for ASRGL1 expression by immunohistochemistry in relation to clinical and histopathological data. ASRGL1 mRNA level was investigated in 237 primary tumors and related to survival and ASRGL1 protein expression.ResultsLow expression of ASRGL1 protein and ASRGL1 mRNA predicted poor disease specific survival (P < 0.001). In multivariate survival analyses ASRGL1 had independent prognostic value both in the whole patient cohort (Hazard ratio (HR): 1.53, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.04–2.26, P = 0.031) and within the endometrioid subgroup (HR: 2.64, CI: 1.47–4.74, P = 0.001). Low ASRGL1 expression was less frequent in patients with low grade endometrioid primary tumors compared to high grade endometrioid and non-endometrioid primary tumors, and ASRGL1 was lost in the majority of metastatic lesions.ConclusionsIn a prospective setting ASRGL1 validates as a strong prognostic biomarker in endometrial carcinoma. Loss of ASRGL1 is associated with aggressive disease and poor survival, and is demonstrated for the first time to have independent prognostic value in the entire endometrial carcinoma patient population.

GoMate – Diversifierad elfordonspool för den förtätade staden : slutrapport

- I GoMate-projektet har diversifierad elfordonspool vid boendet testats: pool bestående av elcyklar, elassisterade lådcyklar och elbilar, i två innerstadsområden i Jönköping. Det övergripande syftet med projektet har varit att undersöka om och i vilken utsträckning som en diversifierad elfordonspool kan bidra till minskad bilanvändning till förmån för användning av mer hållbara mobilitetslösningar.Resultaten visar att en diversifierad elfordonspool har potential att minska bilanvändningen. Det är framförallt elcykel som ersätter bilresor till vardags, vilket på sikt kan minska bilinnehav till förmån för nyttjande av biltjänster vid enstaka tillfällen (sällanresor).Om potentialen ska kunna realiseras krävs dock pris- och affärsmodeller för pooltjänsterna som stimulerar till minskad bilanvändning, betraktat som en process som kan förväntas ske successivt över tid. En sådan process behöver vidare understödjas av policy, styrmedel och åtgärder som begränsar och försvårar bilresande i innerstaden.Om potentialen ska realiseras behöver också poolverksamheten skalas upp betydligt avseende antal fordon per lägenhet. Trots att det var en relativt stor poolverksamhet med totalt 17 (varav 15 cyklar) fordon för 160 hushåll, som testades i projektet, så hade den endast kapacitet att försörja en mycket liten andel av de boendes totala resande, och med mycket små effekter avseenden bidrag till energioch klimatmål.

- Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)], a strong independent cardiovascular risk factor, consists of the unique apolipoprotein(a) [apo(a)] covalently linked to a low-density lipoprotein particle. Apo(a) contains a widely differing number of the plasminogen-like kringle IV, a size polymorphism that is codominantly inherited. In addition to powerful genetic control, renal failure is known to influence the plasma Lp(a) concentration. There is still a lot to be learned about the mode and site of catabolism of Lp(a), and there is no readily applicable Lp(a)-lowering treatment available. Therefore, it was of interest to study further the Lp(a)-lowering effect of corticotropin (ACTH) that has been demonstrated in small studies. The main purpose of the present study was to investigate the influence of ACTH on different apo(a) isoforms. Short-term treatment with ACTH decreased the plasma Lp(a) concentration in all 26 study participants. The two study groups (12 healthy individuals and 14 hemodialysis patients) responded similarly, with a median decrease in plasma Lp(a) of 39% and 49%, respectively. In subjects with two clearly separable apo(a) bands, apo(a) phenotyping and densitometric scanning of the bands before and after treatment with ACTH revealed a change in the proportion of apo(a) isoforms, ie, a shift toward the isoform with lower molecular weight. This was observed in seven of nine investigated subjects (four of five healthy individuals and three of four hemodialysis patients).

Introduktion av värmekameror i undervisningen vid Lillerudsgymnasiet

- Vi har bedrivit en forskningscirkel med syfte att utvärdera värmekameran som visualiseringsteknik i olika ämnen på naturbruksprogrammet genom att planera, genomföra och reflektera kring lektionsupplägg, där elever har fått möjlighet att använda värmekameror med olika grad av styrning. Resultatet visar att värmekameran har många skilda tillämpningsområden inom lantbruk och djurhållning och kan användas i undervisningen som ett verktyg för elevers praktiska undersökningar av t.ex. djurs fysiologi, eller som ett mätinstrument då tillfälle ges, t.ex. för att studera juverbölder hos suggor eller temperaturökning när en skruv tar fel gäng. En utmaning i undervisningen är att finna en balans mellan öppenhet och styrning, där eleverna upplever att de har möjlighet att undersöka fenomen de själva är intresserade av, men utifrån ett etablerat, systematiskt arbetssätt. Sammanfattningsvis har vi upplevt användning av värmekameror som ett effektivt och intresseväckande sätt att konkretisera och individanpassa undervisningen på naturbruksprogrammet, vilket vi kan rekommendera andra lärare att prova.

- OBJECTIVE: Emergency departments consist of multiple systems requiring interaction with one another while still being able to operate independently, creating frequent interruptions in the clinical workflow. Most research on interruptions in health care settings has focused on the relationship between interruptions and negative outcomes. However, there are indications that not all interruptions are negatively perceived by those being interrupted. Therefore, this study aimed to explore factors that influence when a clinician perceives interruptions as non-disturbing or disturbing in an emergency department context.METHOD: Explorative design based on interviews with 10 physicians and 10 registered nurses at two Swedish emergency departments. Data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.RESULT: Factors influencing whether emergency department clinicians perceived interruptions as non-disturbing or disturbing were identified: clinician's constitution, external factors of influence and the nature of the interrupted task. The clinicians' perceptions were related to a complex of attributes inherent in these three factors at the time of the interruption. Thus, the same type of interruption could be perceived as either non-disturbing or disturbing contingent on the surrounding circumstances in which the event occurred.CONCLUSION: Emergency department clinicians' perceptions of interruptions as non-disturbing or disturbing were related to the character of identified influencing factors.

- Objective: Emergency department team members frequently need to interact with each other, a circumstance causing multiple interruptions. However, information is lacking about the motives underlying these interruptions and this study aimed to explore clinicians' reasons to interrupt colleagues during emergency department work.Method: Semi-structured interviews with 10 physicians and 10 registered nurses at two Swedish emergency departments. The interviews were analyzed inductively using content analysis.Results: The working conditions to some extent sustained the clinicians' need to interrupt, for example different routines. Another reason to interrupt was to improve the initiator's work process, such as when the initiators perceived that the interruption had high clinical relevance. The third reason concerns the desire to influence the work process of colleagues in order to prevent mistakes and provide information for the person being interrupted to improve patient care.Conclusion: The three identified categories for why emergency department clinicians interrupt their colleagues were related to working conditions and a wish to improve/influence the work processes for both initiators and recipients. Several of the reasons given for interrupting colleagues were done in order to improve patient care. Interruptions perceived as negative to the recipient were mostly related to the working conditions.
