- In den letzten Jahren hat sich das schwedische Bildungswesen grundlegend gewandelt. So wurde 2011 eine Gymnasialreform durchgeführt, die u.a. striktere Aufnahmekriterien vorsieht. Zugleich wurden fünf Einführungsprogramme implementiert, die Schülern den Übergang in ein Nationales Programm oder in den Arbeitsmarkt ermöglichen sollen. Im Beitrag wird deutlich, dass die Schülerzahl in speziellen Programmen zunimmt, ohne dass bislang eine verbesserte Eingliederung in den Arbeitsmarkt zu erkennen ist.

- I drygt 10 år har det i Sverige funnits två magisterprogram för lärare som vill fortsätta sin karriär i det specialpedagogiska fältet: speciallärare och specialpedagog. Under de senaste åren har en del forskning kring de respektive yrkesrollerna bedrivits. Sammanfattningsvis har det blivit tydligt att det praktiska arbetet karakteriseras delvis av överlappningar och otydlighet. Däremot finns knappast forskning kring respektive magisterstudenternas motivation, förväntningar och erfarenheter. I en enkätstudie (125 deltagare, svarsfrekvens 75 procent) förtydligas att beslutet att studera till speciallärare eller specialpedagog ofta anses som ett naturligt steg i karriären. Särskilt med hänsyn till speciallärarstudenterna var lärarlegitimationen en viktig faktor. Vad gäller förväntningar dominerar den personliga och professionella utvecklingen. Utöver detta förväntar sig studenterna bättre anställningsmöjligheter, nya professionella utmaningar och ökande kompetens. Under presentationen kommer de resultaten diskuteras med bas i en professionaliseringsteoretisk ansats.

- The social and economic costs of injury and disability in the workplace has had an adverse impact on employers and societies throughout the world. International trends in worksite disability management policies and practices, as surveyed by the International Labor Organization, are explored. The impact of formal training for Disability Management Coordinators is discussed, as relates to reductions in unnecessary lost time and workplace disability costs. A disability management audit system is summarized, as a strategic planning process for developing return-to-work programs for workers with disabilities.

- Im Zuge der schwedischen Gymnasialreform wird derzeit auch die so genannte „Gymnasiesärskola“, die gymnasiale Sonderschule für Jugendliche mit geistiger Behinderung umgestaltet. Diese Schulform soll stärker mit der allgemeinen gymnasialen Stufe zusammenarbeiten. Auch sollen mehr Berührungspunkte zwischen Schule und Arbeitsleben geschaffen werden, um den Übergang der Jugendlichen in die Berufswelt zu erleichtern. Im Beitrag wird die Schulreform diskutiert, wobei eine stärkere Betonung der Qualifizierungsfunktion von Bildung deutlich wird.

Disability management experts and the impact of jurisdiction on practice: an Ontario example

- Introduction The role, tasks and competencies of disability management professionals (DMPs) have increasingly become a focus of research in the last decade. However, the legal context in which DMPs work, how this affects their daily practice, and how this impacts their training curricula, has been neglected. This omission is problematic given that international training programs of disability management (DM) operate across different jurisdictions. Our study describes DMPs' practice in Ontario, Canada and considers jurisdiction-specific elements of disability management practice. Methods The study is based on seven interviews and a focus group with five participants, who are either certified disability management professionals or who are involved with DMPs' training, as well as documentary analysis of the legal context of these professionals' practice. Results The study shows how DMPs' practice is affected by the local legal context. The jurisdiction's socio-political framework requires DMPs to distinguish between occupational and non-occupational cases, a distinction which affects their practice and their recommendations to employers. This is in contrast to DM training which emphasises equal treatment of all people with disabilities. Conclusions The research suggests that disability management practices may differ from one jurisdiction to the next and therefore emphasises the need to consider socio-political aspects in DMPs' practice as well as in the development of training programmes and cross-jurisdictional research.
