  • Alignment additivity in the two-quasiparticle superdeformed bands of Tl-192
  • 1996
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 53:5, s. 2126-2133
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Four superdeformed bands have been confirmed in Tl-192. Two of these bands have T-(2) dynamic moments of inertia which are nearly constant with rotational frequency HBAR omega. The other two bands show the characteristic rise of T-(2) with increasing HBAR omega seen in most superdeformed bands of the A = 190 region of superdeformation. From comparisons with the odd-A neighbors, it was found that the alignments of these bands relative to a Hg-192 core can be accounted for from the additive contributions of the assigned quasiproton and quasineutron orbitals.

  • Magnetic dipole bands in 190Hg : First evidence of excitations across the Z = 82 sub-shell in Hg nuclei
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - 0370-2693. ; 505:1-4, s. 6-14
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • An experiment aimed at studying high-spin states in 190Hg was performed with the Eurogam II array. The data have revealed the presence of cascades of magnetic dipole transitions with some unexpected properties. Unlike the MI bands previously observed in the heavier Hg isotopes, these structures have extremely large B(M1)/B(E2) ratios, The observation of a third dipole band with much lower B(M1)/B(E2) values in the same spin/excitation energy regime suggests that the bands may represent configurations occurring in different minima in the potential energy surface. Configuration-dependent Cranked Nilsson-Strutinsky calculations predict the presence of a minimum in the nuclear potential energy surface at a deformation of ε ≅ 0.2, γ ≅ -90°, occurring when a proton is excited across the Z = 82 shell-gap into an h9/2 orbital. It is suggested that the bands exhibiting anomalously large B(M1)/B(E2) ratios may be associated with this minimum.

  • NEW FEATURES OF SUPERDEFORMED BANDS IN HG-194
  • 1994
  • Ingår i: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 72:20, s. 3150-3153
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two new features of superdeformed (SD) bands in the A almost-equal-to 190 region emerge from a study of Hg-194 with the Gammasphere detector array. A decrease of the dynamic moment of inertia is observed for rotational frequencies HBARomega greater-than-or-equal-to 0.4 MeV, confirming long standing expectations based on mean field calculations with pairing. Evidence for a small staggering in the SD transition energies is also observed, suggesting the presence of terms with fourfold symmetry in the SD Hamiltonian.

  • PROTON AND NEUTRON EXCITATIONS IN SUPERDEFORMED TB-150
  • 1995
  • Ingår i: Physical Review C. Nuclear Physics. - 0556-2813 .- 1089-490X. ; 52:1, s. 93-98
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Two new superdeformed (SD) bands have been observed in Tb-150 using the reaction P-31 + Sn-124 and the GAMMASPHERE detector array. These new bands are interpreted as being excited SD configurations involving a proton and a neutron particle-hole excitation, respectively. The configurations are discussed in terms of the occupancy of high-N intruder orbitals. These data are used to provide information on (i) the contribution to the dynamic moments of inertia due to the occupation of specific orbitals, (ii) the deformation driving effects of the particle-hole states, and (iii) the consequences of these effects on pairing and band crossings.

  • Diagnostic Evaluation of Gastric Motor and Sensory Disorders
  • 2021
  • Ingår i: American Journal of Gastroenterology. - : Ovid Technologies (Wolters Kluwer Health). - 0002-9270 .- 1572-0241. ; 116:12, s. 2345-2356
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Disorders of gastricmotor and sensory function affect 10%-20% of the world's population and adversely impact nutrition, quality of life, work productivity, and health care costs. Classifying these disorders can be challenging given the heterogeneity of symptom presentation, the presence of symptoms unexplained by endoscopic, radiographic and/or laboratory evaluation, and overlap with other luminal gastrointestinal disorders. Accurately diagnosing these highly prevalent disorders relies upon an understanding of epidemiology and risk factors, the ability to take a careful clinical history focused on symptoms, and the presence of predisposingmedical, surgical, and psychological conditions. A variety of diagnostic studies are now available to assess gastric motor function and identify maladaptive relaxation, accommodation, and abnormal sensation. FDA-approved treatment options are limited and thus many patients undergo a series of empirical treatment trials that target individual symptoms, often without much benefit. This article provides updated recommendations for identifying and classifying the most common gastric motor and sensory disorders using currently accepted diagnostic tests, and provides a brief supplemental overview on treatment options. • IDENTICAL SUPERDEFORMED BAND IN DY-151 - FURTHER EVIDENCE FOR THE PSEUDOSPIN COUPLING SCHEME
  • 1995
  • Ingår i: Physics Letters B. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 346:1-2, s. 15-20
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • One of the four new excited superdeformed bands found in Dy-151 is characterized by transition energies that lie midway between the gamma-ray energies of the yrast superdeformed band in Dy-152. This result adds significant new information on the issue of ''identical'' bands, as it confirms predictions based on the strong coupling model and the pseudospin coupling scheme.
