  • 5G Business Models for Mobile Network Operators-A Survey
  • 2022
  • In: IEEE Access. - : Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). - 2169-3536. ; 10, s. 94851-94886
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Emerging Fifth-generation (5G) mobile networks and associated technologies are expected to provide multi-service wireless applications with diverse specifications intended to address not only consumer-based smartphone applications, but also the needs of various vertical industry markets (e.g., healthcare, education, energy, mining, agriculture, manufacturing, and so forth). This paper extends 5G networks' technology orientation towards attaining economic value for all key 5G stakeholders, including customers, mobile network operators (MNOs), equipment vendors, public institutions, private enterprises, digital business start-ups and other third parties. Although several surveys and tutorials have discussed business models in connection with 5G networks, there is no comprehensive study on business models for emerging 5G networks from the MNO's perspective. In this survey article, we present and investigate key advances on business models for 5G networks and 5G MNOs in particular, from industry, use cases and research community perspectives. The paper focuses the theoretical business model concept from both strategic management and technological innovation perspectives. Thereafter, we discuss conventional business models for MNOs before presenting particular disruptive business models which can be considered for rolling out 5G networks with an aim to improve business efficiency. Additionally, the paper explores the emerging network deployment concept of private 5G networks and their related business models. Finally, we present some of the open research challenges and provide possible guidelines for implementing 5G business models based on various countries' socio-economic status and relevant 5G use cases applicable in a specific context of emerging economies.

  • A pooled analysis of case-control studies of thyroid cancer. VI. Fish and shellfish consumption
  • 2001
  • In: Cancer Causes and Control. - 0957-5243 .- 1573-7225. ; 12:4, s. 375-382
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Objective: To better understand the role of fish and shellfish on thyroid cancer risk, we systematically re-analyzed the original data from 13 case-control studies conducted in the US, Japan, China, and Europe. Methods: A total of 2497 cases (2023 women, 474 men) and 4337 controls (3268 women, 1069 men) were considered. Odds ratio (OR) and corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) were estimated for each study by logistic regression models, conditioned on age and sex, and adjusted for history of goiter, thyroid nodules or adenomas, and radiation. Combined ORs were computed as the weighted average of the estimates from each study. Results: The ORs for the highest level of total fish consumption (three or more times per week) as compared to the lowest one (less than once per week) was above unity in Hawaii, Connecticut, Japan, Norway, Troms°, and Vaud. Conversely, the ORs for the studies in Los Angeles, Shanghai, southeastern Sweden, Uppsala, northern Sweden, northern Italy, and Athens were below one. The pattern of risk for salt water fish and shellfish was not substantially different from that of total fish. Fish was not associated with thyroid cancer risk in all studies combined (OR = 0.99, 95% CI 0.85-1.2 for moderate, and OR=0.88, 95% CI 0.71-1.1 for high total fish consumption), but there was a suggestion of a protective effect in endemic goiter areas (OR = 0.65, 95% CI 0.48-0.88). Conclusion: This combined analysis indicates that relatively elevated fish consumption does not appreciably increase thyroid cancer risk, and may have a favorable influence in areas where iodine deficiency is, or was, common.

  • Moving materials and ways of life
  • 2023
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Although absurd to outsiders, the process of moving houses (husflyttningar) in northern Sweden is quite common. A husflyttning will always draw a crowd of spectators and perhaps get a photograph in the local newspaper, but what is most remarkable about the act of moving a house is how unremarkable it is. Understanding house movements, whether for economic or cultural purposes, and whether piecemeal or wholesale, gives us an opportunity to understand some of the fundamental intellectual questions about our built environment.

  • Integrating fuzzy geometric maps and topological maps for robot navigation
  • 1999
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Autonomous mobile robots need to use spatial information about the environment in order to effectively plan and execute navigation tasks. This information can be represented at different level of abstractions, ranging from detailed geometric maps to coarse topological maps. Each level is adequate for some sub-tasks, but not for others. In this paper, we propose to use hybrid maps, patchworks of local metric maps connected into a topological network. Our hybrid maps are peculiar in that they use fuzzy sets to represent the uncertainty that affects metric information. We show how a robot can build hybrid maps from sensor data, and how it can use them in autonomous indoor navigation. We also report experiments performed on a real mobile robot that demonstrate the robustness of our approach with respect to inaccuracies in the map and noise in the sensor data.

  • Tolkning av försäkringsavtal
  • 2012
  • In: Juridisk Tidskrift. - Stockholm : Jure. - 1100-7761. ; 24:2, s. 426-433
  • Journal article (other academic/artistic)abstract
