  • Certified Professional in Configuration Management - Foundation Level Qualification Scheme
  • 2007
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • This document (or syllabus) contains a qualification scheme and forms the basis for training providers to create a foundation level training for professionals in Configuration Management. Training providers will produce courseware and determine appropriate teaching methods for accreditation, and the document will help candidates in their preparation for the examination. The iNTernational Certified Configuration Manager Association (hereinafter called iNTCCM) also provides the qualification scheme to the examination body for them to accredit the training providers and to derive examination questions. Currently the examination questions will only be available in English. Information on the history and background of the qualification scheme can be found in Appendix A. A separate iNTCCM Glossary is provided defining specific Configuration Management terms used in this document.

  • Certified Professional in Configuration Management - Glossary of terms used in Configuration Management
  • 2007
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Much time and effort is wasted both within and between industry, commerce, government and professional and academic institutions when ambiguities arise as a result of the inability to differentiate adequately between such terms as 'change control' and 'change management'; 'configuration management policy' and 'configuration management plan' and similar terms which form an interface between various sectors of society. Moreover, the professional or technical use of these terms is often at variance with different meanings attributed to them. This document presents terms and definitions designed to aid communication in configuration management and related disciplines. The glossary has been arranged in a single section of definitions ordered alphabetically. Some terms are preferred to other synonymous ones, in which case, the definition of the preferred term appears, with the synonymous ones referring to that. For example 'change control' refers to 'configuration control'. For synonyms, the "See" indicator is used. "See also" cross-references are also used. They assist the user to quickly navigate to the right index term. "See also" cross-references are constructed for relationships such as broader term to a narrower term, and overlapping meaning between two terms.

  • Receiving more, expecting less? Social ties, clientelism and the poor?s expectations of future service provision
  • 2022
  • In: World Development. - : Elsevier BV. - 0305-750X. ; 158
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Do citizens expect candidates who hand out goods at election time to provide services once they take office? The literature provides competing views of the relationship between electoral handouts and service provision. One sees handouts as pre-payment for the vote in lieu of future services; the second understands them as signaling the candidate's ability to provide future services. In this paper, we examine how electoral handouts may affect expectations of future service provision. We focus on the poor because they are most dependent on such service provision, and on expectations because they are more easily identified and are likely to reflect past experience. We argue the density of social ties within the community should moderate the relationship between candidates' campaign handouts and expectations of future services. We test this argument using hierarchical models to analyze observational and experimental data from over 14,000 poor Kenyans, Malawians, and Zambians in 631 communities. We find that respondents generally view monetary handouts to be in lieu of future services. However, we also find important differences in communities with more and less dense social ties. Vote-buying is more common and seen as more acceptable in socially dense than in less dense communities. Respondents from socially dense communities are also less likely to expect future service provision; however, they do not see candidates who give handouts as significantly less likely to provide services than those who do not. Indeed, there is evidence that not providing handouts in these communities may signal the candidate's inability to provide services. These findings highlight the importance of considering how communities' social density affects expectations over service provision and the need to consider, more broadly, how social context affects the distributive consequences of clientelism.(c) 2022 The Author(s).
  • 2022
  • Reports (other academic/artistic)abstract
