  • SiC based field effect gas sensors for industrial applications
  • 2001
  • In: Physica status solidi. A, Applied research. - 0031-8965 .- 1521-396X. ; 185:1, s. 15-25
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The development and field-testing of high-temperature sensors based on silicon carbide devices have shown promising results in several application areas. Silicon carbide based field-effect sensors can be operated over a large temperature range, 100-600 degreesC, and since silicon carbide is a chemically very inert material these sensors can be used in environments like exhaust gases and flue gases from boilers. The sensors respond to reducing gases like hydrogen, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. The use of different temperatures, different catalytic metals and different structures of the gate metal gives selectivity to different gases and arrays of sensors can be used to identify and monitor several components in gas mixtures. MOSFET sensors based on SIC combine the advantage of simple circuitry with a thicker insulator, which increases the long term stability of the devices. In this paper we describe silicon carbide MOSFET sensors and their performance and give: examples of industrial applications such as monitoring of car exhausts and flue gases. Chemometric methods have been used for the evaluation of the data.

  • Treatment of children with haemophilia in Europe: A survey of 20 centres in 16 countries
  • 2000
  • In: Haemophilia. - : Wiley. - 1351-8216. ; 6, s. 619-624
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A survey was made of the current status of treatment of haemophilic boys at 20 centres in 16 European countries and includes approximately 1500 of the estimated 6500 haemophiliacs in the participating countries. Many mild haemophiliacs are not seen, or seen infrequently, at haemophilia centres and this requires study. Nine of 18 centres provide continuous prophylaxis to 80-100% of their patients, five centres provide it to 55-80% and the remaining four centres to 15-40% of the boys. The median dose given was 6240 U kg-1 year-1 (range 3120-7800). Four centres administered only recombinant concentrates to children with severe haemophilia A, while seven centres administered recombinant concentrates to 75-90% and the remaining centres to less than 50% of the boys (two centres <10%). When asked for the choice of concentrate for a newly diagnosed boy with severe haemophilia A, all but one centre preferred recombinant concentrate. Most boys below 6 years received concentrates via a peripheral vein but three centres preferred a central venous line for 80-100% of the boys. Thirteen of 18 centres applied home treatment to 84-100% of the boys and the remaining five centres to 57-77% of the boys.

  • Efficient Implementation of a Submodel for Composite Materials to be Combined with the FDTD-Algorithm
  • 1994
  • In: IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. - : IEEE Magnetics Society. - 0018-9464 .- 1941-0069. ; 30:5, s. 3188-3191
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A submodel to be used for thin sheets of semiconducting materials in combination with the finite difference time domain algorithm for solving Maxwell's equations is derived. Emphasis is concentrated on accomplishing an efficient and robust algorithm. Stability properties of the combined model are also investigated

  • Anaphylactoid reactions and nephrotic syndrome - A considerable risk during factor IX treatment in patients with haemophilia B and inhibitors : A report on the outcome in two brothers
  • 1998
  • In: Haemophilia. - : Wiley. - 1351-8216. ; 4:6, s. 854-859
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Anaphylaxis/anaphylactoid reactions have recently been reported after few treatments with factor IX concentrates in patients with haemophilia B at the same time as inhibitors to factor IX were demonstrated. In some of these cases nephrotic syndrome has appeared during immune tolerance induction (ITI) with high doses of factor IX concentrates. Gene deletions seem to be associated with a high risk of developing antibodies to factor IX. This report presents two brothers with deletion of 1 bp in exon f of the factor IX gene. Both showed anaphylactoid reactions and they were desensitized using slow i.v. injections of factor IX. At the time of anaphylaxis, inhibitors of factor IX in a low titre could be demonstrated. The elder brother responded well after a short time on ITI and has no spontaneous bleedings on regular prophylaxis although in a somewhat higher dose than expected. On the other hand, in spite of comparable regimens, the younger brother has so far been resistant to ITI. Moreover, during treatment with extremely high doses of factor IX concentrate he developed nephrotic syndrome which only slowly subsided after treatment with corticosteroids and withdrawal of factor IX.
