  • Short-range magnetic correlations and spin dynamics in the paramagnetic regime of (Mn,Fe)2(P,Si)
  • 2016
  • In: PHYSICAL REVIEW B. - 2469-9950. ; 94:1
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The spatial and temporal correlations of magnetic moments in the paramagnetic regime of (Mn,Fe)(2)(P,Si) have been investigated by means of polarized neutron diffraction and muon-spin relaxation techniques. Short-range magnetic correlations are present at temperatures far above the ferromagnetic transition temperature (T-C). This leads to deviations of paramagnetic susceptibility from Curie-Weiss behavior. These short-range magnetic correlations extend in space, slow down with decreasing temperature, and finally develop into long-range magnetic order at T-C.

  • Magnetic phase diagram of low-doped La2-xSrxCuO4 thin films studied by low-energy muon-spin rotation
  • 2013
  • In: Physical Review B. Condensed Matter and Materials Physics. - : American Physical Society. - 1098-0121 .- 1550-235X. ; 88:6, s. 064419-1-064419-11
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The magnetic phase diagram of La2-xSrxCuO4 thin films grown on single-crystal LaSrAlO4 substrates has been determined by low-energy muon-spin rotation. The diagram shows the same features as the one of bulk La2-xSrxCuO4, but the transition temperatures between distinct magnetic states are significantly different. In the antiferromagnetic phase the Neel temperature T-N is strongly reduced, and no hole spin freezing is observed at low temperatures. In the disordered magnetic phase (x greater than or similar to 0.02) the transition temperature to the cluster spin-glass state T-g is enhanced. Possible reasons for the pronounced differences between the magnetic phase diagrams of thin-film and bulk samples are discussed.

  • Superconducting nature of the Bi-II phase of elemental bismuth
  • 2019
  • In: Physical Review B. - : AMER PHYSICAL SOC. - 2469-9950 .- 2469-9969. ; 99:17
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The superconductivity in the Bi-II phase of elemental bismuth (transition temperature T-c similar or equal to 3.92 K at pressure p similar or equal to 2.80 GPa) was studied experimentally by means of the muon-spin rotation as well as theoretically by using the Eliashberg theory in combination with density functional theory calculations. Experiments reveal that Bi-II is a type-I superconductor with a zero temperature value of the thermodynamic critical field B-c(0) similar or equal to 31.97 mT. The Eliashberg theory approach provides a good agreement with the experimental T-c and the temperature evolution of B-c . The estimated value for the retardation (coupling) parameter k(B)T(c)/omega(In) approximate to 0.07 (omega(In) is the logarithmically averaged phonon frequency) suggests that Bi-II is an intermediately coupled superconductor.

  • In situ uniaxial pressure cell for x-ray and neutron scattering experiments
  • 2023
  • In: Review of Scientific Instruments. - : AIP Publishing. - 1089-7623 .- 0034-6748. ; 94:1
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We present an in situ uniaxial pressure device optimized for small angle x-ray and neutron scattering experiments at low-temperatures and high magnetic fields. A stepper motor generates force, which is transmitted to the sample via a rod with an integrated transducer that continuously monitors the force. The device has been designed to generate forces up to 200 N in both compressive and tensile configurations, and a feedback control allows operating the system in a continuous-pressure mode as the temperature is changed. The uniaxial pressure device can be used for various instruments and multiple cryostats through simple and exchangeable adapters. It is compatible with multiple sample holders, which can be easily changed depending on the sample properties and the desired experiment and allow rapid sample changes.
