  • Youth psychopathic traits inventory-short version : a further test of the internal consistency and criterion validity
  • 2012
  • In: Journal of Psychopathology and Behavioral Assessment. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 0882-2689 .- 1573-3505. ; 34:4, s. 476-486
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The Youth Psychopathic Traits Inventory-Short Version (YPI-S; van Baardewijk et al., 2010) is a self-report measure to assess psychopathic-like traits in adolescents. The aim of the present study is to investigate the factor structure, the internal consistency, and the criterion validity of the YPI-S in 768 Belgian community adolescents (45.4 % males). In general, our study supported the YPI three factor structure while relevant indices showed that the instrument is internally consistent. In addition, relations between the YPI-S total score and dimension scores on the one hand and external criterion measures (e.g. conduct problems and self-reported offending) on the other hand were generally in line with predictions. The present study replicated and substantially extended previous findings of the YPI-S in a sample of community youth. Future studies are needed to test whether findings from community samples can be replicated in clinical-referred and justice-involved boys and adolescents.

  • Pressure-driven flow in thin domains
  • 2020
  • In: Asymptotic Analysis. - : IOS Press. - 0921-7134 .- 1875-8576. ; 116:1, s. 1-26
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We study the asymptotic behavior of pressure-driven Stokes flow in a thin domain. By letting the thickness of the domain tend to zero we derive a generalized form of the classical Reynolds–Poiseuille law, i.e. the limit velocity field is a linear function of the pressure gradient. By prescribing the external pressure as a normal stress condition, we recover a Dirichlet condition for the limit pressure. In contrast, a Dirichlet condition for the velocity yields a Neumann condition for the limit pressure.

  • Constraint maps with free boundaries : the obstacle case
  • Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • This paper revives a four-decade-old problem concerning regularity theory for (continuous) constraint maps with free boundaries. Dividing the map into two parts, the distance part and the projected image to the constraint, one can prove various properties for each component. As already pointed out in the literature, the distance part falls under the classical obstacle problem, which is well-studied by classical methods. A perplexing issue,  untouched in the literature, is the properties of the projected image and its higher regularity, which we show to be at most of class C2,1. In arbitrary dimensions, we prove that the image map is globally of class W3,BMO, and locally of class C2,1 around the regular part of the free boundary. The issue becomes more delicate around singular points, and we resolve it in two dimensions. In the appendix, we extend some of our results to what we call leaky maps.

  • [New ICD-10 code for refractory and unexplained chronic cough]
  • 2023
  • In: Läkartidningen. - 0023-7205 .- 1652-7518. ; 120
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Chronic cough is a common disease, causing distress and impaired quality of life [2]. In the Western world, cough is the most common reason for seeking medical attention [3]. The prevalence of chronic cough is about 10 percent in the adult population but of course hides several subgroups, and the numbers vary greatly [1]. A subgroup of chronic cough is Refractory Chronic Cough (RCC) or Unexplained Chronic Cough (UCC) where no »certain« underlying medical explanation can be found. Until January 2023, the diagnosis of chronic, refractory cough is not included in the ICD-10 codes applied in Sweden. In September 2022, an announcement came from the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare that from January 1 2023 »Chronic Cough« including refractory and unexplained chronic cough will get its own code under R05 also in Sweden: R05.7.

  • The Relevance of Directive 2010/53/EU for Living Organ Donation Practice: An ELPAT View
  • 2015
  • In: Transplantation. - 0041-1337 .- 1534-6080. ; 99:10, s. 2215-22
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • With the recent transposition of Directive 2010/53/EU into the transplant regulation of EU Member States, the time is right to have a closer look at its implications for living organ donation practice. We first discuss the relevance of the Action Plan which forms the basis for the policy of the European Commission in the field of organ donation and transplantation. We then analyze the impact of Directive 2010/53/EU which was adopted to support the implementation of the Priority Actions set out in the Action Plan. We more specifically focus on the obligations of transplant centers engaged in living organ donation and highlight their significance for clinical practice. Finally, we point out some strengths and weaknesses of the Directive in addressing living organ donation.
