  • The effects of dialogue groups on physicians' work environment : A matter of gender?
  • 2015
  • In: Work. - : IOS Press. - 1051-9815 .- 1875-9270. ; 52:2, s. 407-417
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: Over the past decades, the work environment of physicians has been deteriorating, particularly for female physicians. OBJECTIVE: In this study, we evaluated the effects of dialogue groups on the work environment of physicians in relation to gender. METHODS: Sixty physicians (38 women) at Sachs' Children's Hospital in Stockholm, Sweden, participated in dialogue groups once a month during a period of one year. Assessments of their psychosocial work environment were performed before and after the intervention. RESULTS: At baseline, female physicians experienced their work environment as less satisfactory compared to male physicians. After the intervention, the female physicians perceived improvements in more areas than their male colleagues. CONCLUSIONS: Our study shows that female physicians at this clinic were disadvantaged in relation to the work environment, but, more importantly, the findings suggest that several of the disadvantages can be reduced. Dialogue groups appear to improve the physicians' work environment and promote gender equality.

  • Innovation management in service firms : a research agenda
  • 2011
  • In: Service Business. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1862-8516 .- 1862-8508. ; 5:2, s. 177-193
  • Research review (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This article suggests an agenda for further research on innovation management in service firms. It investigates differences and similarities between issues identified by previous academic research and issues brought up by practitioners within the area of innovation management in service firms. The results show that there are some major differences; for instance, researchers stress a need for formalized processes for development work, while practitioners focus on facilitating innovation in everyday operations. The main conclusion is that in order to bridge the gap between research and practice we would encourage further research on innovation in service firms to (1) conduct micro studies of innovation work, (2) view innovation in the context of everyday operations and (3) focus on co-workers' innovative potential.

  • Self-propelled Employees - Co-workership in Swedish Community Pharmacies
  • 2024
  • In: Nordic Journal of Working Life Studies. - : Roskilde Universitetsforlag. - 2245-0157. ; 14:1
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In this article, work in Swedish pharmacies is examined. With the Nordic concept of co-workership as a frame, the aim is to examine how employees in pharmacies view and handle their work situations and the reasons behind them. Data were mainly collected with 20 qualitative semistructured interviews in five different pharmacies. The data were organized and analyzed by using the content analysis process. In the studied pharmacies, it can be summarized as work was carried out in a self-propelled way. Employees take an overall responsibility for the workplace, have ambition to help others and to be a part of a good team, while most of the work is carried out individually and independently.
