  • The Why and How of Middleware
  • 2016
  • Ingår i: Digital Humanities Quarterly. - : Alliance Digital Humanities Organizations. - 1938-4122. ; 10:2
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The presentation, publication and research platforms used for scholarly work in the Digital Humanities embody argument structures that are not always explicitly acknowledged. This article examines these platforms, and their protocols, as "middleware" that includes such purpose-designed projects as Omeka, and Scalar, and general purpose ones such as Drupal and PowerPoint, to ask how they embody rhetorical assumptions at every level of production (from back-end assumptions about what constitutes the smallest unit of discourse, to the front-end modes of presentation and organization of display). It extends the concept of middleware to include physical and social presentation spaces, activities (such as witnessing), to ask how these, also, perform the rhetorical activity of enunciation, positionality, and other discursive modalities.

  • Architecture landscape
  • 2023
  • Ingår i: Towards Sustainable and Trustworthy 6G: Challenges, Enablers, and Architectural Design. - 9781638282396 ; , s. 11-39
  • Bokkapitel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • The network architecture evolution journey will carry on in the years ahead, driving a large scale adoption of 5th Generation (5G) and 5G-Advanced use cases with significantly decreased deployment and operational costs, and enabling new and innovative use-case-driven solutions towards 6th Generation (6G) with higher economic and societal values. The goal of this chapter, thus, is to present the envisioned societal impact, use cases and the End-to-End (E2E) 6G architecture. The E2E 6G architecture includes summarization of the various technical enablers as well as the system and functional views of the architecture.

  • Från vision till praktik : språkutbildning och informationsteknik
  • 2006

  • 6G E2E Architecture Framework with Sustainability and Security Considerations
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: 2022 IEEE GLOBECOM Workshops, GC Wkshps 2022 - Proceedings. ; , s. 832-837
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The research on 6G in the EU-funded flagship project Hexa-X started with the investigation of the most important technology enablers and the evaluation of relevant 6G use cases. The next step is to integrate these enablers in a 6G E2E architecture that fulfills all use case-based Key Performance (KPI) and Key Value Indicators (KVI) and that follows the guidelines of general architectural principles. In addition, the main focus of an E2E 6G architecture must be on security and sustainability which both will have increased importance for future communication networks and society.

  • Formation of Adsorbed Layers by Deposition of Dinitrogen Pentoxide, Nitric Acid, and Water on Graphite
  • 2009
  • Ingår i: J. Phys. Chem. C. - : American Chemical Society (ACS). ; 113, s. 7728-7734
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • The formation of adsorbed layers of dinitrogen pentoxide, nitric acid, and water on graphite has been studied by molecular beam and light-scattering techniques. The desorption kinetics of N2O5 on graphite were described by the Arrhenius equation with an activation energy of 0.24 ± 0.03 eV and a pre-exponential factor of 2.3 × 10(10 ± 0.73) s−1, and N2O5 is concluded to bind more strongly than H2O to the graphite surface. Elastic helium scattering and light scattering were used to probe the formation of adlayers on the surface. Adsorption of pure N2O5 resulted in formation of thin adlayers at temperatures below 160 K. In coadsorption experiments N2O5 was concluded to facilitate the formation of thick N2O5−H2O ice layers at 155 K. In a similar way coadsorption of HNO3 and H2O resulted in the formation of thick adlayers at 170 K. N2O5 and HNO3 both bind more strongly than water to the graphite surface and are concluded to facilitate nucleation and growth of ice.

  • The metabolites urobilin and sphingomyelin (30:1) are associated with incident heart failure in the general population
  • 2019
  • Ingår i: ESC Heart Failure. - : Wiley. - 2055-5822. ; 6:4, s. 764-773
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • AIMS: We aimed to investigate whether metabolomic profiling of blood can lead to novel insights into heart failure pathogenesis or improved risk prediction.METHODS AND RESULTS: Mass spectrometry-based metabolomic profiling was performed in plasma or serum samples from three community-based cohorts without heart failure at baseline (total n = 3924; 341 incident heart failure events; median follow-up ranging from 4.6 to 13.9 years). Cox proportional hazard models were applied to assess the association of each of the 206 identified metabolites with incident heart failure in the discovery cohorts Prospective Investigation of the Vasculature in Uppsala Seniors (PIVUS) (n = 920) and Uppsala Longitudinal Study of Adult Men (ULSAM) (n = 1121). Replication was undertaken in the independent cohort TwinGene (n = 1797). We also assessed whether metabolites could improve the prediction of heart failure beyond established risk factors (age, sex, body mass index, low-density and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglycerides, lipid medication, diabetes, systolic and diastolic blood pressure, blood pressure medication, glomerular filtration rate, smoking status, and myocardial infarction prior to or during follow-up). Higher circulating urobilin and lower sphingomyelin (30:1) were associated with incident heart failure in age-adjusted and sex-adjusted models in the discovery and replication sample. The hazard ratio for urobilin in the replication cohort was estimated to 1.29 per standard deviation unit, 95% confidence interval (CI 1.03-1.63), and for sphingomyelin (30:1) to 0.72 (95% CI 0.58-0.89). Results remained similar after further adjustment for established heart failure risk factors in meta-analyses of all three cohorts. Urobilin concentrations were inversely associated with left ventricular ejection fraction at baseline in the PIVUS cohort (β = -0.70, 95% CI -1.03 to -0.38). No major improvement in risk prediction was observed when adding the top 2 metabolites (C-index 0.787, 95% CI 0.752-0.823) or nine Lasso-selected metabolites (0.790, 95% CI 0.754-0.826) to a modified Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities heart failure risk score model (0.780, 95% CI 0.745-0.816).CONCLUSIONS: Our metabolomic profiling of three community-based cohorts study identified associations of circulating levels of the haem breakdown product urobilin, and sphingomyelin (30:1), a cell membrane component involved in signal transduction and apoptosis, with incident heart failure.
