  • Group Processes – The Links Between Team Climate Inventory and Group Development Questionnaire
  • 2019
  • In: Clinical and Experimental Psychology. - 2471-2701. ; 5:2
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The present study analyzed the relationship between two models for effective team work, team climate theory and integrated model of group development, measured by TCI and GDQ. 72 members of 9 Swedish management teams answered the short version of Team Climate Inventory, TCI-14, and Group Development Questionnaire, GDQ. The response rate was 100% since the researchers met the managers on their regular team meetings. It was expected that there would be a close relationship between the two ways of describing effective team work, which was confirmed by the results. There were a very close relationship between the GDQ and TCI scales, 3 out of 16 correlations had a medium effect size (-0.40 to -0.43) and 13 had a large effect size (0.51 to 0.76). The strongestrelationship between the two models was displayed between participative safety in TCI and the four scales of GDQ, indicating that participative safety is low in stage I and high in stage IV of the integrated model of group development.

  • HSO Managers Spokesperson Self-Efficacy (SSE) when Meeting the Media
  • 2018
  • In: Clinical and Experimental Psychology. - : OMICS Publishing Group. - 2471-2701. ; 4:3
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The present study examined Human Service Organizations (HSO) managers’ self-efficacy as spokespersons towards the Media and the relationships to managers’ individual experience of being a spokesperson. The purpose of the study was also to examine what role the management teams play with regard to team effectiveness and team size. A scale for measuring Spokesperson Self-Efficacy (SSE) was developed and evaluated in order to carry out the study. Altogether 96 HSO managers belonging to 12 management teams answered a questionnaire containing GDQ scale 4 (team effectiveness), the SSE scale and a question about the level of experience of being a spokesperson. Team size was also measured. The result showed a strong relationship between experience of being a spokesperson and SSE, but no relations were found between team effectiveness or team size and SSE.

  • Under Critical Scrutiny: A Normal Task for Swedish Executive Municipal Healthcare Managers.
  • 2019
  • In: Journal of Social Science Research. - : CIRWOLRD. - 2321-1091. ; 14, s. 3171-3179
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Swedish Human Service Organisations (HSOs) operate under high demands of transparency. In this study, executive municipal healthcare managers’ dealings with the Media were mapped. 81% had experiences of dealing with the Media under critical scrutiny. 20% of the respondents were aware of whether their organisation had a media strategy. The respondents received support during media scrutiny mainly from their management team, subordinates, family and friends. The respondents who received support from their management team or the communication department felt that the depiction of their organisation was more correct. The results indicate that a strategy including activities from the management team or the communication department would contribute to managers feeling more satisfied with media depictions of their organisation.
