  • Young Diabetics' User Requirements of Insulin Pump
  • 2005
  • In: Nordic Ergonomics Society 37th Annual Conference. - 8299574714
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Diabetics who need insulin are best treated with insulin pumps. However, many young diabetics choose not to use pumps. This study was based on a survey with young diabetics (13-29 years), with the objective to elicit user requirements from users and non-users of insulin pumps. The result showed that difficulties with wearing the pump in daily life were the main reason for not using it. The users prefer a small, easy handled pump, which is comfortable to wear, especially during physical activities and with tight cloths. If insulin pumps are designed with focus on attracting young non- users, the existing users will also gain benefits

  • The daily use of manikins within the manufacturing department at Volvo Car Corporation – working methodology, developments and wanted improvements.
  • 2005
  • In: In: Proceedings of 37th Annual Conference of Nordic Ergonomics Society, October 10-12, Oslo, Norway. - 8299574714 ; , s. 86-90
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper describes the daily use of manikins (computerized human models) within the manufacturing department at Volvo Car Corporation. The paper explains how the manikin is used during the manufacturing development process, from the earliest phase to start of production, and gives examples of which questions that can be answered by using computerized human models. The paper also enlightens limitations in the software/technique and also raises the importance of participatory ergonomics and multidisciplinary work groups when simulating ergonomics.

  • Navigation with exocentric 2-D and egocentric 3-D maps
  • 2005
  • In: Proceedings of the 37th Annual Conference of the Nordic Ergonomic Society. Norsk Ergonomiforening, Oslo, Norge.. - 8299574714
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In an information design research project at Mälardalen University in Sweden intuitive map design for nautical navigation has been tested. In a laboratory experiment traditional electronic chart plotters in exocentric bird’s eye view were compared with a 3-D map displayed in an egocentric “surface perspective”. The 3-D maps clearly resulted in shorter decision times and less errors moving through a maze.
