  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Environmental loads from the building and its services must be minimised. The study aims to determine material quantities, manufacturing energy and how material choice affect manufacturing energy. An inventory of materials in domestic water, waste water, space heating and ventilation services are made and manufacturing energy are calculated based on LCA’s. Finally energy need for alternative material choice are calculated. The services consists of more than 30 materials where 8 constitutes 80% of the weight and 10 constitutes 80% of the manufacturing energy. A bad material choice can increase the manufacturing energy need by 25% compared to a good choice.

  • Inclusion of recycling in the assessment of buildings.
  • 2000
  • In: [Host publication title missing]. - 9517584083 ; , s. 179-184
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Environmental assessment of buildings has become an increasing research field and the methodology of LCA is increasingly used. In case studies, the phase after demolition is mostly either excluded or handled in a rather limited way. However, in the design phase, the aspects of future recycling needs to be regarded and by that the phases after demolition. Inclusion of these aspects in the assessment of buildings implies both theoretical considerations and practical needs. This paper presents experiences from two studies focused on the potential for recycling and the benefits from recycling building materials. Potential use, possibilities and problems are discussed.
