  • Fault tolerance strategies in an existing FMS installation
  • 1993
  • In: Control Engineering Practice. - 0967-0661. ; 1:1, s. 127-134
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper describes a case study of an FMS installation in which fault tolerance is modelled through the use of a description model called the General Recursive System (GRS). The GRS makes it possible to study different system configuration are described, called Hardware Configuration, Mission Configuration and Work Configuration. Fault tolerance, i.e. ways to overcome erroneous situations in the FMS installation, is obtained by choosing alternative system configurations. Alternative ways to describe different fault tolerance strategies within the FMS installation are illustrated through examples.

  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The CHAMP (Chalmers Architecture and Methodology for Flexible Production) system is a general control system for manufacturing that can be configured for arbitrary production. The same system can be used recursive at different levels of the production. The system consists of producers that can perform operations on products and movers that can move products between producers. Each product is described by a number of operations that are mapped to global operations in the database. Thus a flexible production can be designed only by defining the product recipes and the factory layout.

  • 2005
  • In: Real-Time Programming 2004. - 0080445829 ; , s. pp 133 - 138
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper describes the current state of the Java implementation of the CHAMP (Chalmers Architecture and Methodology for Flexible Production) System. CHAMP is a reference architecture for manufacturing control systems that has a structure that promotes flexibility. The current Java implementation is intended for controlling and/or simulating manufacturing cells.

  • 2011
  • In: proceedings of 2nd Abuual International Conference on Computer Science Education: Innovation and Technology. - 2251-2195. ; , s. 50-54
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In this paper we describe the Netsim program which is used to graphically simulate distributed algorithms and protocols. The algorithms should be written in Java according to a given interface and can then be loaded into the Netsim program and be simulated using an appropriate network. Then the communication will be animated on the screen and the simulation can be controlled in different ways. After the simulation different data can be collected for further analysis.
