- This article is the second in a series of two publications relating to the European Crohns and Colitis Organisation [ECCO] evidence-based consensus on the management of Crohns disease. The first article covers medical management; the present article addresses surgical management, including preoperative aspects and drug management before surgery. It also provides technical advice for a variety of common clinical situations. Both articles together represent the evidence-based recommendations of the ECCO for Crohns disease and an update of previous guidelines.

An advanced multi-orbital impurity solver for dynamical mean field theory based on the equation of motion approach

- We propose an improved fast multi-orbital impurity solver for the dynamical mean field theory based on equations of motion (EOM) for Green's functions and a decoupling scheme. In this scheme the inter-orbital Coulomb interactions are treated fully self-consistently, and involve the inter-orbital fluctuations. As an example of the use of the derived multi-orbital impurity solver, the two-orbital Hubbard model is studied for various cases. Comparisons are made between numerical results obtained with our EOM scheme and those obtained with quantum Monte Carlo and numerical renormalization group methods. The comparison shows a good agreement, but also reveals a dissimilarity of the behaviors of the densities of states which is caused by inter-site inter-orbital hopping effects and on-site inter-orbital fluctuation effects, thus corroborating the assertion of the value of the EOM method for the study of multi-orbital strongly correlated systems.

- From a simple extension of a previous formal pattern of unconscious-conscious interconnection based on the representation of mental entities by m-adic numbers through hysteresis phenomenology, a pattern which has been then used to work out a possible psychoanalytic model of human consciousness, we now argue on related simple derivations of p-adic Weber-Fechner laws of psychophysics.

- Fluorescence guidance in brain tumor resection is performed intra-operatively where bleeding is included. When using fiber-optical probes, the transmission of light to and from the tissue is totally or partially blocked if a small amount of blood appears in front of the probe. Sometimes even after rinsing with saline, the remnant blood cells on the optical probe head, disturb the measurements. In such a case, the corresponding spectrum cannot be reliably quantified and is therefore discarded. The optimal case would be to calculate and take out the blood effect systematically from the collected signals. However, the first step is to study the pattern of blood interference in the fluorescence spectrum. In this study, a fiber-optical based fluorescence spectroscopy system with a laser excitation light of 405 nm (1.4 J/cm2) was used during fluorescence guided brain tumor resection using 5-aminolevulinic acid (5-ALA). The blood interference pattern in the fluorescence spectrum collected from the brain was studied in two patients. The operation situation was modeled in the laboratory by placing blood drops from the finger tip on the skin of forearm and the data was compared to the brain in vivo measurements. Additionally, a theoretical model was developed to simulate the blood interference pattern on the skin autofluorescence. The blood affects the collected fluorescence intensity and leaves traces of oxy and deoxy-hemoglobin absorption peaks. According to the developed theoretical model, the autofluorescence signal is considered to be totally blocked by an approximately 500 μm thick blood layer.

- Oro-facial pain (OFP) and temporomandibular disorders (TMD) in children and adolescents are a growing problem. To meet patients' healthcare needs, professionals must perform their work intuitively and with quality. Therefore, a high degree of professional knowledge is necessary. To investigate the professional knowledge regarding OFP/TMD in children and adolescents among Swedish and Saudi Arabian dental and medical specialists compared with Swedish OFP specialists. One questionnaire including the four domains Chronic pain and behaviour; Aetiology; Diagnosis and classification; Treatment and prognosis was distributed to 383 potential participants, that is physicians and dentists in Sweden and Saudi Arabia. The Swedish OFP/TMD specialists were used as a reference group. The response rates from Sweden and Saudi Arabia were 49% and 86%, respectively. The degree of agreement was highest in the domain Chronic pain and behaviour, especially for the Swedish groups. Regarding the other three domains, the agreement was modest to poor. In general, Swedish groups showed a higher agreement with Swedish OFP/TMD specialists than Saudi Arabian groups. This study shows that professional knowledge regarding OFP/TMD in children and adolescents is limited among Swedish and Saudi Arabian dental and medical professionals compared to Swedish OFP/TMD specialists. In Swedish groups, the professional knowledge is more accurate than in the corresponding Saudi Arabian. With these results in mind, and the frequent prevalence of OFP/TMD in children and adolescents, one can draw the conclusion that there is a need for modern medical education regarding OFP/TMD among both physicians and dentists, especially in Saudi Arabia.

- The aim of this study was to explore what subject-integrated teaching of vocational subjects, ethics and health care, contributed with in terms of vocational knowing. The case study was ethnographically inspired and followed a group of students (16 +) and their teachers in a Swedish Health and Social Care Program while they worked with a theme unit called Death for two weeks in autumn 2012. Data comprised observations, field notes, and audio recordings of the planning and teaching of the theme unit, informal discussions with teachers and students, handouts, a theme booklet, and student assignments. Analysis was based on concepts related to cultural historical activity theory, especially emphasizing rules, tools, actions, operations, and contradictions. Results showed three major objects emphasized in the teacher–student interaction and the tools chosen to support the subject-integrated teaching activity: vocational knowing related to vocational ethics, to everyday ethics, and argumentative skills. Manifestations of contradictions in the form of dilemmas related to the examples that teachers copied from a textbook. As these examples were mainly contextualized in everyday situations, and there are no formal ethical guidelines for nursing assistants on which teachers could rely on, teachers’ narratives were used to complement these examples. Students’ argumentative skills were emphasized and related to personal situations, in which ethical arguments for justification in vocationally relevant situations were made unclear.

- The oxidation of (W,Mo)Si2 powders has been examined at 400, 500 and 600°C for 12.0 hours in air. It was shown that the low temperature oxidation resistance of (W,Mo)Si2 was worse than that of MoSi 2, and they showed great changes in mass, volume and colour. At 500°C, the amount of volume expansion of (W,Mo)Si2 was as high as about 7-8 times and color changed from black to yellow after 4.0h with MoO 3, WO3, (W,Mo)O3 and amorphous SiO2 as main reaction products. It took about 8.0h to obtain the same results for MoSi2. The mass gain and oxidation rate were relatively slower at 400°C and 600°C than that at 500°C These were probably due to the lower oxidation rate at 400°C and the protective silica glass on surface of powders formed from the volatilization of MoO3, WO3 and (W,Mo)O3 at 600°C, which would restrain the diffusion of molybdenum from matrix to exterior and oxygen from outside to inside and the further accelerated oxidation.

- In artistic interventions artists are invited into organizations to work with management and employees on issues that concern them, such as generating ideas for new products and services, supporting skills development (e.g., leadership, communication, and creativity), or clarifying organizational identity. For this panel symposium we bring together international scholars who have studied various governance-related aspects of artistic interventions in organizations. They will address the kind of leadership that fosters or impedes the capacity of artistic interventions to tilt organizations, the roles of intermediaries who bridge between the world of the arts and the world of organizations, and the potential of artistic interventions for addressing conflict. The symposium will also include an example of a new approach to inquiry developed by an artist in the context of her PhD research to reflect on aesthetic ways of knowing in the process of addressing conflicts. Panelists are junior and senior scholars who have researched artistic interventions in Austria, France, Germany and Sweden from the perspective of the key stakeholders involved: the artist who uses her professional competencies in the process of intervening, the manager who is responsible for initiating an intervention, and the intermediary who works with employees and the artist to enable the intervention. After brief individual presentations the moderated discussion will offer session participants the opportunity to delve deeper with the panelists into experiences with different art forms and diverse cultural contexts, as well as to address difficulties that occur in artistic interventions about which little has been written.
