  • Belle ciarle e tristi fatti
  • 2019
  • Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Belle ciarle e tristi fatti In his Beiträge zur Geschichte der Oper um die Wende des 18. und 19. Jahrh. Ludwig Schiedermair describes Johann Simon Mayr’s Belle ciarle e tristi fatti as his best comic opera. Premiered in November 6 1807 at Teatro La Fenice in Venice to a libretto by Angelo Anelli, the opera had a reasonable success. However, it had a short run and it lasted until 1813 until it appeard again, this time aat Teatro alla Scala in Milano, as Imbroglio contro imbroglio. The reason for its resurrection was a complete failure of Guglielmi’s La presunzione coretta and Mayr’s Venetian score saved the season and a review in Allgemeine musikalische Zeitung appeared on June 30, 1813. The reviewer mentioned some good singing but noted especially Mayr’s eccentric orchestration to create local colour as well as accentuated dramatic situations. For example the three part Ständchen in the second act accompanied by winds and basses pizzicati and the following aria with extensive obligate guitar solo. The sordinated trumpets in the first act finale to mock the nasal sound of the Venetian lawyers is also a good example of Mayr’s sublime comic details of which the opera is full of. Since 1813 there is no record of further performances of this comic jewel. In consequence the source situation is fairly simple. The autograph is housed in Archivio Ricordi, Milano and there is a fair copy in Deutsche Staatsbibliothek in Berlin. The copy seems to have had a close relationship to the autograph as an autograph recitative that is missing in Mayr’s score has been glued into the copy. They seem to have been used in rehearsals as the few cuts indicated in one source is identically reflected in the other. The autograph if Belle ciarle contains is an interesting articulation sign that is not yet clear at present state of research. In N. 18 the aria of Marianna (p.447 of the full score) there is an articulation sign in both strings and winds which interpretation is still a mystery: Det källkritiska partiuret med åtföljande kommentar ingår i Giovanni Simone Mayr Werkausgabe (Casa Ricordi, Berlin) och har editionsnummer Sy.8011.

  • En programsammanhållande kurs med många funktioner
  • 2011
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract

  • Use of life cycle assessment in sustainable manufacturing : review of literature, analysis and trends
  • 2009
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The implementation of the management model with a Sustainable Manufacturing (SM) approach means thinking of processes that use natural resources in a responsible manner, promote the health and safety of all those involved and the integration of production cycle processes (production - distribution - consumption - recovery).Literature shows that to make this management model feasible, it is recommended to map the entire production chain and the life cycle of products and processes. One of the possible methods to map this process is to produce the Inventories in the Life Cycle Analysis (LCA), which makes an environmental balance of the processes and creates indicators for monitoring and decision making. With the construction of the Life Cycle Inventory (LCI), a clear flow chart is created of the entire manufacturing process, all the input and output flows and energy and the balance between them. This means that a detailed map of the entire production process is obtained. With these details, it is possible to develop products, opt for technologies with better results, select significant environmental indicators and reformulate products or the process. The analysis of all life cycle phases permits the identification and evaluation of the process’ critical phases, the opportunity to optimize inputs and energy, to indicate the most appropriate metrics for controlling and analyzing performance, and most especially, improve environmental performance, indicating the Life Cycle phase where impacts occur as well as identifying opportunities for greater economic efficiency and innovation. These data provide tangible subsidies for decision making based on sustainability criteria.Through a review of literature, this paper proposes underscoring the importance of LCA in implementing SM, seeking to be an incentive for more in-depth research and for the creation of proposals that can make LCA accessible to the entire production sector in the country as soon as possible.Brazil is in the initial phase of development of this management instrument with national characteristics and it does not deny the fact there is still a way to go before LCA can become accessible to most companies. This is mainly due to the difficulties in producing LCI as a result of costs as well as the need for complete chain information (reliability) and the existence of few LCI databases and a standard methodology to be applied in the country, important items for making the analyses feasible. This is of fundamental importance to promote the good positioning of Brazilian companies in the global market since other countries, mainly those in Europe, have been seeking sustainable equilibrium for a longer time. The paper shows it is not possible to establish truly sustainable production processes without carrying out a LCA, and it also shows the method’s direct relation to standardization processes, such as ISO 14001. We conclude that only a joint effort by the government, companies, universities, research institutes and class entities will make it feasible to use the system in the country.

  • Management Consulting For Client Learning? Clients’ Perceptions on Learning In Management Consulting
  • 2002. - 1st Edition
  • In: Developing Knowledge and Value in Management Consulting. - Greenwich, CT : Information Age Publishing. - 9781931576024 ; , s. 3-32
  • Book chapter (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • Management consulting is generally described as a process of helping managers solve problems that appear as part of their managerial responsibilities. The International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI), for example, defines management consulting as "the rendering of independent advice and assistance about the process of management to clients with management responsibilities" (www.icimi.com). This view of management consulting, with its focus on the consultants independence, draws a strong line between the consultants and the client. Indeed, in the literature the consultant¨s independent and neutral role in relation to the client is repeatedly highlighted as a central feature of management consulting (Greiner & Metzger, 1983; Kyrö, 1995). A management consultant stands apart from the client, not taking the client's problem definition and facts as a given, but forming his or her own, independent appraisal (Greiner & Metzger, 1983, p. 6).
