  • Magister Mathias Lincopensis, Exposicio super Apocalypsim : Edited with an Introduction by Ann-Marie Billing-Ottosson
  • 2003
  • Doctoral thesis (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • This dissertation contains the first critical edition of Exposicio super Apocalypsim, written by the Swedish 14th century theologian Magister Mathias Lincopensis. The commentary, which covers the first fifteen chapters of St. John's Apocalypse, became well-known especially thanks to Bernardino of Siena and Nicolaus Cusanus, both of whom made copies of it. It is now preserved in 18 MSS, some of them fragmentary. Mathias interpreted the Bible text allegorice, mystice and moraliter. He citicized his own time, the heresies and the decay of the Church. The Cristians will be afflicted by many tribulations and temptations, but God will succour his Church. At the end of the time the Antichrist will come portending the last Judgement, when only a few will be saved. The manuscripts are divided into two groups, the Bernardinian and the so-called independent. This edition is founded on the last group, especially on MS U.

  • En studie av ungdomars och anställdas syn på arbete i två kommuner i Dalarna
  • 2003
  • In: Arbete och hälsa. - 0346-7821. ; 2, s. 52-
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A study of youths and employees opinions on work in two municipalities in Dalarna During the second half of the 1980:s attention was drawn to the difficulties for the industry to recruite youths. The difficulties to recruite had been made worse partly as a result of the decreasing batch of youths, partly of youths negative attitudes towards industrial work. When the state of the market turned to increased prosperity during the second half of the 1990:s, the difficulties in recruiting returned to... mer the agenda. The primary purpose of the study provides a data foundation for discussions in a development project aimed at increasing the attractiveness of manufacturing industry as a workplace. Other purposes concerns youths and employees opinions on ideal work and on industrial work. The study was turned towards youths in the ninth grade and to employees in small engineering workshops and in loghouse firms. The study was delimited to the municipalities Avesta and Rättvik in Dalarna, Sweden. The youths had higher estimates than the employees in both ideal and industrial work. The working environment, including physical, social and working organisational aspects, is the one aspect that the youths has put forward as most important for the firms to improve. Improvement in the working environment may be a suitable strategy to increase the interest for manufacturing and industrial work. A result of the study is that the environment and the treatment that youths experience in the contact with industry firms, e.g. by practical occupational experience, educational visits etc., has great importance for the youths opinion on work within the manufacturing industry.

  • Food-borne outbreak of gastroenteritis associated with genogroup I calicivirus.
  • 2002
  • In: Journal of Clinical Microbiology. - 1098-660X. ; 40:3, s. 794-798
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • An outbreak of gastroenteritis affecting 158 of 219 (72%) guests and employees at a hotel is described. Food served at the hotel restaurant is believed to have been the source of the outbreak and to have been contaminated by sick employees working in the restaurant. A secondary attack rate of 22% was seen involving 43 persons in all. In stool specimens from seven of eight patients, Norwalk-like viruses (NLVs) were detected by electron microscopy. While NLV-specific PCR using primers JV12 and JV13 were negative, all specimens examined with primers NVp69 and NVp110 were positive. The failure of primers JV12 and JV13 was attributed to several mismatches in the JV12 primer. Genotyping and sequence analysis revealed that all samples had identical sequences and clustered with genogroup I, and the most closely related well-characterized genotype is Desert Shield. This is the first described food-borne outbreak associated with genogroup I virus in Sweden.
