  • Makerspace in school : Considerations from a large-scale national testbed
  • 2018
  • In: International Journal of Child-Computer Interaction. - : Elsevier. - 2212-8689 .- 2212-8697. ; 16, s. 9-15
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Digital fabrication and making has received a growing interest in formal and informal learning environments. However, many of these initiatives often start from a grassroots perspective, with little coordination on a national level. This paper illustrates and discusses a study from an ongoing large-scale national testbed in Sweden named Makerspace in schools (Makerskola). The project embodies a series of considerations that arise when a maker approach is applied to a geographically widespread national education context. The results of this study are based on an analysis of the extensive project documentation and first-hand experiences from initiating and running a large-scale national testbed in Sweden, involving more than 30 formal actors and more than one thousand active partners in a national educational setting. The main contribution of this paper is the identification and discussion of five different considerations that have emerged during the project, and include Procurement practices, The teacher and leader perspective, Informing national policy making, Creating equal opportunities, and Progression in digital fabrication.

  • Perspectives on Digital Fabrication and Making in Special Education
  • 2016
  • In: FabLearn Europe 2016.
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • In this paper we will focus on different perspectives ondigital fabrication and making in special education.Firstly, we will bring up observations from field studiesin a special education school. The observations concernthe implications of different teaching styles based onwhether the teacher is trained in design thinking or not.Secondly, further perspectives concern knowledgesharing among teachers in special education, and morespecifically how to index a digital archive of digitalfabrication teaching resources for special education. The paper will shortly introduce two of the projectswhere our perspectives stems from, and further discussthe perspectives. It is the hope of the authors that theperspectives will enrich the discussion on digitalfabrication and making in special education.

  • Designing Ubiquitous Computing Games - A Report from a Workshop Exploring Ubiquitous Computing Entertainment
  • 2002. - 2
  • In: Personal and Ubiquitous Computing. - 1617-4909 .- 1617-4917. ; 6, s. 443-458
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We report from a Research Atelier that explored how ubiquitous computing could be applied to fun and entertainment. The Atelier lasted for five days, starting with two days of scenario development and brainstorming activities. This led to three fairly concrete – though very different – game ideas. The background and motivation for the Atelier is described, as well as the method used and the games developed.

  • Treatment of panic disorder via the Internet : A randomized trial of a self-help program
  • 2001
  • In: Behavior Therapy. - 0005-7894 .- 1878-1888. ; 32:4, s. 751-764
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This controlled study, evaluated an Internet-delivered self-help program plus minimal therapist contact via e-mail for people suffering front panic disorder. Out of the 500 individuals screened using the self-administered diagnostic instrument Composite International Diagnostic Interview in shortened form (World Health Organization, 1999), 41 fulfilled the inclusion criteria. These participants were randomized to either treatment via the Internet or to a waiting-list control. The main components of the treatment were psychoeducation. breathing retraining, cognitive restructuring, interoceptive exposure. in vivo exposure, and relapse prevention. From pre- to post- test self-help, participants improved significantly more on almost all dimensions. The results from this experiment generally provide evidence for the continued use and development of self-help programs for panic disorder distributed via the Internet.
