  • ML optimal CDMA multiuser receiver
  • 1995
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 1350-911X .- 0013-5194. ; 31:18, s. 1554-1555
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A maximum likelihood optimum detector with an asymptotic complexity per user of O(1.5(K)) has been derived for the synchronous DS/CDMA channels. The detector employs a local descent algorithm through the Voronoi regions for the equivalent hypothesis detector.

  • Power dependence and accessible bandwidth for dispersion-managed solitons in asymmetric dispersion maps
  • 1998
  • In: Electronics Letters. - Goteborg, Sweden : Institution of Engineering and Technology. - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 34:21, s. 2054-2056
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The authors investigate how the parameters of dispersion managed solitons depend on the asymmetry of the dispersion map. Using the variational approach and numerical simulations it is shown that asymmetric maps can increase the accessible bandwidth in the normal average dispersion regime and equalise the power in adjacent WDM channels.

  • Experimental observation of soliton robustness to polarisation dispersion pulse broadening
  • 1999
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 1350-911X .- 0013-5194. ; 35:1, s. 65-66
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Soliton robustness to polarisation dispersion pulse broadening in a 400km installed optical fibre is experimentally demonstrated. With 10ps input pulses and a differential group delay of 7.6ps, the soliton pulsewidth at the receiver is maintained within 10-11ps when the input polarisation is changed, while the corresponding range for dispersion-compensated linear pulses is 10.5-15.5ps.

  • Dual polarised multibeam antenna
  • 1999
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 35:25, s. 2158-2160
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A dual polarised four-beam antenna array for the 1850-1990 MHz frequency band is presented. The polarisations are ±45° to vertical. The antenna has eight inputs corresponding to two orthogonal polarisations and four beams. The return loss and cross-polar isolation for a single Butler beam exceeds 15 and 22 dB, respectively. The radiation pattern is similar to an ideal Butler pattern and the cross-polarisation level is <-21 dB in the beams

  • In: Electronics Letters. - New York : IEEE. - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 35:21, s. 1797-1798
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The bandwidth efiiciency of MGCDMA signals is evaluated and Compared to that of DS-CDMA signals. For the same available bandwidth, the achievable processing gain of the two systems with and without Sdtetering is evaluated and then Compared.

  • Organic laser based on lithographically defined photonic-bandgap resonators
  • 1998
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : IEEE. - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 34:1, s. 90-91
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The authors report the fabrication and characteristics of organic solid-state waveguide lasers with feedback from a photolithographically defined rhomboid photonic bandgap lattice. The lattice is formed by etching holes of depth 10-40 nm in SiO2 and filling them with the organic gain medium. The gain medium is part of a planar waveguide formed by air/organic layer/SiO2.

  • Effect of enhanced current crowding in a CPW with a thin ferroelectric film
  • 1997
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 1350-911X .- 0013-5194. ; 33:2, s. 145-146
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Enhanced current crowding is predicted at the edges of the conducting strips in thin ferroelectric film coplanar waveguides (CPWs). A minimum current crowding depth is expected, which depends on the CPW geometry and dielectric constant of the ferroelectric film. In practical CPW devices the enhanced current crowding can increase the conductor losses by up to four times. The current crowding depth may be smaller than the skin depth or London penetration depth (for high temperature superconducting CPW)

  • Single-Step Buried Waveguides in Glass by Field Assisted Copper Ion Exchange
  • 1995
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 1350-911X .- 0013-5194. ; 26:1, s. 38 - 39
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Symmetric profile buried waveguides can be fabricated in glass by single-step electromigration of Cu2+ ions from thin solid films. The theory of this process is given. The controllable process needs a molten multi-ionic anode to keep the glass surface background composition unchanged.

  • Compensation for saturation effects in FIR-NLMS system identification
  • 1998
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 34:4, s. 411-412
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • An adaptive scheme is derived to be used in combination with the normalised least mean squares algorithm for finite impulse response models (FIR-NLMS), to combat nonlinear imperfections of the plant to be identified. The scheme is shown to outperform FIR-NLMS when a test system that consists of a variable static nonlinearity in cascade with a linear filter is identified.

  • Conformal array synthesis including mutual coupling
  • 1999
  • In: Electronics Letters. - : Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET). - 0013-5194 .- 1350-911X. ; 35:8, s. 625-627
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A pattern synthesis technique for a conformal array antenna on a cylinder is presented using the method of alternate projections. Both the sidelobe region and the shape of the main beam are controlled. The method includes the effect of the mutual coupling in the synthesis. It is shown that if mutual coupling is neglected, then poor results are obtained, especially in the shaped beam region.
