  • Aesthetics, Organization, and Humanistic Management
  • 2020
  • Editorial collection (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This book is a reaction to the reductionist and exploitative ideas dominating the mainstream contemporary management discourse and practice, and an attempt to broaden the horizons of possibility for both managers and organization scholars. It brings together the scholarly fields of humanistic management and organizational aesthetics, where the former brings in the unshakeable focus on the human condition and concern for dignity, emancipation, and the common good, while the latter promotes reflection, openness, and appreciation for irreducible complexity of existence. It is a journey towards wholeness undertaken by a collective of management and organization theorists, philosophers, artists, and art curators.Reading this book’s contributions can help both academics and practitioners work towards building organizational practices aimed at (re)acquiring wholeness by developing aesthetic awareness allowing for more profound understandings of performativity, insights into the dynamics of power, appreciation of ambiguity and ambivalence, and a much needed grasp of complexity. The varied ways of engaging with art explored by the authors promote imaginative insights into and reflection on the beauty and vicissitudes of organizing, of management knowledge and collective expression. It will be of interest to researchers, academics, practitioners, and students in the fields of organizational theory and practice, business and management history, human resource management, and culture management.

  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Gareth Morgan (1986) is famous for drawing attention to the key role of metaphors (metaphors) in organization theory. He suggested that various definitions of organizations are based on different metaphors, often unconscious ones. In this paper we set out with metaphors contained in Morgan's book (1986), but altered, re-imagined supplemented by us. Also, somewhat reinterpreted. The aim of the paper is, now as it was then, not to serve as a research article, but, rather, a kind of intertextual journey in search of narrative intricacy but without wandering off into chaos.

  • Alterethnography : reading and writing otherness in organizations
  • 2020
  • In: Gender, Work and Organization. - : John Wiley & Sons. - 0968-6673 .- 1468-0432. ; 27:6, s. 1402-1417
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Inspired by the alternative ethnographic tradition, the aim of this article is to contribute with an approach to organizational ethnography informed by the radical imperative to encounter and understand the Other in his/her complex otherness and difference. The approach is conceptualized in terms of alterethnography and it is outlined as a way of doing research/writing for change at odds with dominant patriarchal scientific writing orders. Illustrated by a study of creativity, written in the form of an academic postmodern detective novel fiction, alterethnography is envisioned as uncontained and disruptive, unpatriarchal and disconformist: it is an approach that transgresses the boundaries of the ego, striving to embrace otherness as togetherness.

  • 2022
  • In: World Futures. - London : Taylor & Francis. - 0260-4027 .- 1556-1844. ; 78:5, s. 302-310
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • In this text, our aim is to outline the scaffolding we believe is needed to build and shape the future role of the University. This scaffolding is an assemblage of three different strategies we have found to be fruitful in our attempt to present narratives for a better future: engagement with the arts, the development of sociological imagination, and the embracement of the Other, specifically in terms of alternative and different ways of organizing.
