  • Phosphine oxide modulator-ameliorated hole injection for blue perovskite light-emitting diodes
  • 2023
  • In: Journal of Materials Chemistry A. - : ROYAL SOC CHEMISTRY. - 2050-7488 .- 2050-7496. ; 11:38, s. 20808-20815
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Despite the enormous developments in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) recently, obtaining efficient blue PeLEDs is still considered a critical challenge due to the non-radiative recombination and unbalanced charge injection caused by the unmatched carrier mobility and the deep hole-injection barrier between the hole-transport layer (HTL) and the emissive layer (EML). Herein, we incorporate tris(4-trifluoromethylphenyl)phosphine oxide (TMFPPO), obtained through a facile oxidation synthesis process, into poly(9-vinylcarbazole) (PVK). TMFPPO incorporation modulated the energy level and hole mobility of the binary-blend HTLs to eliminate the hole-injection barrier and balance the charge injection within the EML. Consequently, the blue PeLEDs with blended HTL presented an external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 7.23% centred at 477 nm, which was much higher than the EQE of a PVK device (4.95%). Our results demonstrate that modulating the energy level and charge injection of the HTL in the device is a promising method for obtaining efficient blue PeLEDs. TMFPPO is developed and incorporated into PVK to modulate the hole mobility and energy level of the hole-transport layer, giving rise to a barrier-free blue perovskite light-emitting diode and an enhancement of the EQE from 4.95 to 7.23% at 477 nm.

  • Technology Roadmap for Flexible Sensors
  • 2023
  • In: ACS Nano. - : American Chemical Society. - 1936-0851 .- 1936-086X. ; 17:6, s. 5211-5295
  • Research review (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Humans rely increasingly on sensors to address grand challenges and to improve quality of life in the era of digitalization and big data. For ubiquitous sensing, flexible sensors are developed to overcome the limitations of conventional rigid counterparts. Despite rapid advancement in bench-side research over the last decade, the market adoption of flexible sensors remains limited. To ease and to expedite their deployment, here, we identify bottlenecks hindering the maturation of flexible sensors and propose promising solutions. We first analyze challenges in achieving satisfactory sensing performance for real-world applications and then summarize issues in compatible sensor-biology interfaces, followed by brief discussions on powering and connecting sensor networks. Issues en route to commercialization and for sustainable growth of the sector are also analyzed, highlighting environmental concerns and emphasizing nontechnical issues such as business, regulatory, and ethical considerations. Additionally, we look at future intelligent flexible sensors. In proposing a comprehensive roadmap, we hope to steer research efforts towards common goals and to guide coordinated development strategies from disparate communities. Through such collaborative efforts, scientific breakthroughs can be made sooner and capitalized for the betterment of humanity.

  • Dye-functionalized carbonaceous interlayer as an efficient lithium polysulfide mediator for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries
  • 2024
  • In: Applied Surface Science. - : ELSEVIER. - 0169-4332 .- 1873-5584. ; 649
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Lithium - sulfur (Li-S) batteries with their high theoretical energy density and abundant resources have been considered as a promising candidate for next-generation energy storage systems. Nonetheless, undesirable diffusion of lithium polysulfides (LiPSs) toward the lithium metal anode in electrolytes during discharge/charge cycles of Li-S batteries, which is known as shuttle behavior of LiPSs, degrades the long-term stability of Li-S batteries and limits their practical applications. Herein, we present dye-functionalized carbonaceous interlayer, in which organic dye containing nitrogen and sulfur functional groups are incorporated into the carbon matrix of a graphitic layer via hydrothermal process. The introduction of such functional interlayer in Li-S batteries reveals that the carbon matrix with various heteroatom moieties can create physically/chemically favorable active sites for trapping LiPSs and enhance LiPSs conversion toward insoluble products of Li2S/Li2S2, resulting in excellent rate capability and long-term stability with high coulombic efficiency. This study emphasizes the potential of organic dyes functionalization and demonstrates enhanced LiPSs conversion and long-term stability of Li-S batteries.

  • Conformal quantum dot-SnO2 layers as electron transporters for efficient perovskite solar cells
  • 2022
  • In: Science. - : American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). - 0036-8075 .- 1095-9203. ; 375:6578, s. 302-306
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Improvements to perovskite solar cells (PSCs) have focused on increasing their power conversion efficiency (PCE) and operational stability and maintaining high performance upon scale-up to module sizes. We report that replacing the commonly used mesoporous-titanium dioxide electron transport layer (ETL) with a thin layer of polyacrylic acid-stabilized tin(IV) oxide quantum dots (paa-QD-SnO2) on the compact-titanium dioxide enhanced light capture and largely suppressed nonradiative recombination at the ETL-perovskite interface. The use of paa-QD-SnO2 as electron-selective contact enabled PSCs (0.08 square centimeters) with a PCE of 25.7% (certified 25.4%) and high operational stability and facilitated the scale-up of the PSCs to larger areas. PCEs of 23.3, 21.7, and 20.6% were achieved for PSCs with active areas of 1, 20, and 64 square centimeters, respectively.

  • The impact of digital supply chain announcements disclosing corporate social responsibility information on stock market value
  • 2023
  • In: Industrial management & data systems. - : EMERALD GROUP PUBLISHING LTD. - 0263-5577 .- 1758-5783.
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • PurposeUsing social network theory (SNT), this study empirically examines the impact of digital supply chain announcements disclosing corporate social responsibility (CSR) information on stock market value.Design/methodology/approachBased on 172 digital supply chain announcements disclosing CSR information from Chinese A-share listed companies, this study uses event study method to test the hypotheses.FindingsFirst, digital supply chain announcements disclosing CSR information generate positive and significant market reactions, which is timely. Second, strategic CSR and value-based CSR disclosed in digital supply chain announcements have a more positive impact on stock market, however there is no significant difference when the CSR orientation is either towards internal or external stakeholders. Third, in terms of digital supply chain network characteristics, announcements reflecting higher relationship embeddedness and higher digital breadth and depth lead to more positive increases of stock value.Originality/valueFirst, the authors consider the value of CSR information in digital supply chain announcements, using an event study approach to fill the gap in the related area. This study is the first examination of the joint impact of digital supply chain and CSR on market reactions. Second, compared to the previous studies on the single dimension of digital supply chain technology application, the authors innovatively consider supply chain network relationship and network structure based on social network theory and integrate several factors that may affect the market reaction. This study improves the understanding of the mechanism between digital supply chain announcements disclosing CSR information and stock market, and informs future research.
