  • High-Density Expansion for the Spinless Fermion Model I : First Order in 1/z and Horwitz-Callen Renormalization
  • 1988
  • In: International Journal of Modern Physics B. - : World Scientific Publishing. - 0217-9792. ; 2:03-04, s. 483-520
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A diagrammatic technique for Hubbard's operators is employed to perform systematically the high-density expansion for the three-dimensional spinless fermion model. The molecular field theory is obtained by the zero-order renormalization of blocks. Summation of the first order diagrams is carried out in both selfconsistent and correctional way. It turns out that the charge ordering parameter, calculated self-consistently, has a jump for a certain medial temperature. We have also shown, that the Horwitz-Callen renormalization leads to the first or second order phase transition, depending on t/W and fails when this ratio is large enough. The phase diagrams of the system for the half-filled band case, derived in both unrenormalized and renormalized first order of high-density expansion are presented.

  • Rörlig bild som metod för dialog i arbetslivet
  • 1989
  • In: Nordisk Ergonomi. ; :3-4, s. 17-22
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
Arbetet påbörjades i januari 1988.

  • Permeabilization of Cultivated Plant Cells by Electroporation for Release of Intracellularly Stored Secondary Products
  • 1988
  • In: Plant Cell Reports. - 0721-7714 .- 1432-203X. ; 7:3, s. 186-188
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Plant cell suspension cultures producing secondary metabolites have been permeabilized for product release by electroporation. The two cell cultures studied, i.e. Thalictrum rugosum and Chenopodium rubrum, require about 5 and 10 kV cm–1, respectively, for complete permeabilization (release of all the intracellularly stored product). The number of electrical pulses and capacitance used had a relatively limited effect on product release while the viability of the cells was strongly influenced by the latter. Conditions for complete product release resulted in total loss of viability of the cells after treatment. The release of product from immobilized cells was also achieved by electroporation. Cells entrapped in alginate required less voltage for permeabilization than free or agarose entrapped cells.

  • Dietary fibre enrichment, blood pressure, lipoprotein profile and gut hormones in NIDDM patients
  • 1989
  • In: European Journal of Clinical Nutrition. - 1476-5640. ; 43:1, s. 35-44
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The influence of a beet-fibre enriched diet (mean 40 g FibrexR, 27 g dietary fibre per day) on blood pressure, plasma lipoproteins and glycaemic control was studied in 12 non-insulin-dependent diabetic (NIDD) patients. The effect on gastrointestinal hormones was also investigated. Beet-fibre and control diets were given in randomized order for 8 weeks each. During the beet-fibre diet the systolic blood pressure decreased (P less than 0.05) and the HDL-cholesterol levels increased (P less than 0.05) compared to values before the study. There was a tendency for systolic blood pressure to be lower also in the control period, but this was not statistically significant. After both diet periods the total plasma cholesterol and triglyceride levels decreased, as well as the LDL/HDL ratio. Blood glucose levels--fasting or postprandial--and glycosylated haemoglobin were not affected during the two different diet periods. In obese NIDD patients, however, the postprandial insulin levels were lower after the beet-fibre diet compared to the control diet. This subgroup also showed lower fasting values of pancreatic polypeptide and motilin were recorded for the obese patients after the fibre-rich period compared to before the study. Further, increases in postprandial motilin levels, 60-180 min, were found after the fibre-rich period. Investigations with reference to an entero-hormonal mechanism by measuring neurotensin and peptide YY did not show any variations between the diet periods.
