  • BTKbase, Bruton Tyrosine Kinase Variant Database in X-Linked Agammaglobulinemia : Looking Back and Ahead
  • 2023
  • In: Human Mutation. - 1059-7794. ; 2023
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • BTKbase is an international database for disease-causing variants in Bruton tyrosine kinase (BTK) leading to X-linked agammaglobulinemia (XLA), a rare primary immunodeficiency of antibody production. BTKbase was established in 1994 as one of the first publicly available variation databases. The number of cases has more than doubled since the last update; it now contains information for 2310 DNA variants in 2291 individuals. 1025 of the DNA variants are unique. The human genome contains more than 500 protein kinases, among which BTK has the largest number of unique disease-causing variants. The current version of BTKbase has numerous novel features: the database has been reformatted, it has moved to LOVD database management system, it has been internally harmonized, etc. Systematics and standardization have been increased, including Variation Ontology annotations for variation types. There are some regions with lower than expected variation frequency and some hotspots for variations. BTKbase contains, in addition to variant descriptions at DNA, RNA and protein levels, also laboratory parameters and clinical features for many patients. BTKbase has served clinical and research communities in the diagnosis of XLA cases and provides general insight into effects of variations, especially in signalling pathways. Amino acid substitutions and their effects were investigated, predicted, and visualized at 3D level in the protein domains. BTKbase is freely available.

  • Suppression of charged particle production at large transverse momentum in central Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN)=2.76 TeV
  • 2011
  • In: Physics Letters. Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693. ; 696:1-2, s. 30-39
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Inclusive transverse momentum spectra of primary charged particles in Pb-Pb collisions at root s(NN) = 2.76 TeV have been measured by the ALICE Collaboration at the LHC. The data are presented for central and peripheral collisions, corresponding to 0-5% and 70-80% of the hadronic Pb-Pb cross section. The measured charged particle spectra in |eta| < 0.8 and 0.3 < p(T) < 20 GeV/c are compared to the expectation in pp collisions at the same root s(NN), scaled by the number of underlying nucleon-nucleon collisions. The comparison is expressed in terms of the nuclear modification factor R-AA. The result indicates only weak medium effects (R-AA approximate to 0.7) in peripheral collisions. In central collisions, R-AA reaches a minimum of about 0.14 at p(T) = 6-7 GeV/c and increases significantly at larger p(T). The measured suppression of high-p(T) particles is stronger than that observed at lower collision energies, indicating that a very dense medium is formed in central Pb-Pb collisions at the LHC. • Study Z gamma events and limits on anomalous ZZ gamma and Z gamma gamma couplings in pp(-) collisions at root s=1.96 Tev
  • 2005
  • In: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 95:5, s. 051802-
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We present a measurement of the Z gamma production cross section and limits on anomalous ZZ gamma and Z gamma gamma couplings for form-factor scales of Lambda=750 and 1000 GeV. The measurement is based on 138 (152) candidates in the ee gamma (mu mu gamma) final state using 320(290) pb(-1) of p (p) over bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV. The 95% C.L. limits on real and imaginary parts of individual anomalous couplings are vertical bar h(10,30)(Z)vertical bar < 0.23, vertical bar h(20,40)(Z)vertical bar < 0.020, vertical bar h(10,30)(gamma)vertical bar < 0.23, and vertical bar h(20,40)(gamma)vertical bar < 0.019 for Lambda=1000 GeV.

  • Measurement of the inclusive t(t)over-bar production cross section in p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV and determination of the top quark pole mass
  • 2016
  • In: PHYSICAL REVIEW D. - 2470-0010. ; 94:9
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The inclusive cross section of top quark-antiquark pairs produced in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV is measured in the lepton + jets and dilepton decay channels. The data sample corresponds to 9.7 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity recorded with the D0 detector during Run II of the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. Employing multivariate analysis techniques we measure the cross section in the two decay channels and we perform a combined cross section measurement. For a top quark mass of 172.5 GeV, we measure a combined inclusive top quark-antiquark pair production cross section of sigma(t<(t)over bar) = 7.26 +/- 0.13(stat)(-0.50)(+0.57) (syst) pb which is consistent with standard model predictions. We also perform a likelihood fit to the measured and predicted top quark mass dependence of the inclusive cross section, which yields a measurement of the pole mass of the top quark. The extracted value is m(t) = 172.8 +/- 1.1(theo)(-3.1)(+3.3) (exp) GeV.

  • Measurement of B-d mixing using opposite-side flavor tagging
  • 2006
  • In: Physical Review D - Particles, Fields, Gravitation and Cosmology. - 1550-7998 .- 1550-2368. ; 74:11, s. 112002-
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We report on a measurement of the B-d(0) mixing frequency and the calibration of an opposite-side flavor tagger in the D0 experiment. Various properties associated with the b quark on the opposite side of the reconstructed B meson are combined using a likelihood-ratio method into a single variable with enhanced tagging power. Its performance is tested with data, using a large sample of reconstructed semileptonic B ->mu(DX)-X-0 and B ->mu(DX)-X-* decays, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of approximately 1 fb(-1). The events are divided into groups depending on the value of the combined tagging variable, and an independent analysis is performed in each group. Combining the results of these analyses, the overall effective tagging power is found to be epsilon D-2=(2.48 +/- 0.21(-0.06)(+0.08))%. The measured B-d(0) mixing frequency Delta m(d)=0.506 +/- 0.020(stat)+/- 0.016(syst) ps(-1) is in good agreement with the world average value.

  • Measurement of the B-s(0) Lifetime in the Flavor-Specific Decay Channel B-s(0)-> D-s(-)mu(+)nu X
  • 2015
  • In: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 114:6
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We present an updated measurement of the B-s(0) lifetime using the semileptonic decays B-s(0) -> D-s(-)mu(+)nu X, with D-s(-) -> phi pi(-) and phi -> K+K- (and the charge conjugate process). This measurement uses the full Tevatron Run II sample of proton-antiproton collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV, comprising an integrated luminosity of 10.4 fb(-1). We find a flavor-specific lifetime tau(fs)(B-s(0)) = 1.479 +/- 0.010(stat) +/- 0.021(syst) ps. This technique is also used to determine the B-0 lifetime using the analogous B-0 -> D- mu(+)nu X decay with D- -> phi pi(-) and phi -> K+K-, yielding tau(B-0) = 1.534 +/- 0.019(stat) +/- 0.021(syst) ps. Both measurements are consistent with the current world averages, and the B-s(0) lifetime measurement is one of the most precise to date. Taking advantage of the cancellation of systematic uncertainties, we determine the lifetime ratio tau(fs)(B-s(0))/tau(B-0) = 0.964 +/- 0.013(stat) +/- 0.007(syst).

  • Search for a heavy neutral gauge boson in the dielectron channel with 5.4 fb(-1) of p(p)over-bar collisions at root s=1.96 TeV
  • 2011
  • In: Physics Letters B. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 695:1-4, s. 88-94
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • We report the results of a search for a heavy neutral gauge boson Z' decaying into the dielectron final state using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 5.4 fb(-1) collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. No significant excess above the standard model prediction is observed in the dielectron invariant-mass spectrum. We set 95 sigma(p (p) over bar -> Z') x BR(Z' -> ee) depending on the dielectron invariant mass. These cross section limits are used to determine lower mass limits for bosons in a variety of models. For the sequential standard model boson a lower mass limit of 1023 GeV is obtained.

  • Search for Neutral Higgs Bosons at High tan beta in the b(h/H/A) -> b tau(+)tau(-) Channel
  • 2009
  • In: Physical Review Letters. - 0031-9007 .- 1079-7114. ; 102:5, s. 051804-:102, s. 051804-
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The first search in p (p) over bar collisions at root s = 1.96 TeV for the production of neutral Higgs bosons in association with bottom quarks and decaying in two tau leptons is presented. The cross section for this process is enhanced in many extensions of the standard model, such as its minimal supersymmetric extension (MSSM) at large tan beta. The data, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 328 pb(-1), were collected with the D0 detector at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider. An upper limit is set on the production cross section of neutral Higgs bosons in the mass range of 90 to 150 GeV, and this limit is used to exclude part of the MSSM parameter space.
