  • Search for squarks and gluinos in final states with one isolated lepton, jets, and missing transverse momentum at √s=13 with the ATLAS detector
  • 2021
  • In: European Physical Journal C. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044 .- 1434-6052. ; 81:7
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The results of a search for gluino and squark pair production with the pairs decaying via the lightest charginos into a final state consisting of two W bosons, the lightest neutralinos (χ~10), and quarks, are presented: the signal is characterised by the presence of a single charged lepton (e± or μ±) from a W boson decay, jets, and missing transverse momentum. The analysis is performed using 139 fb- 1 of proton–proton collision data taken at a centre-of-mass energy s=13 delivered by the Large Hadron Collider and recorded by the ATLAS experiment. No statistically significant excess of events above the Standard Model expectation is found. Limits are set on the direct production of squarks and gluinos in simplified models. Masses of gluino (squark) up to 2.2 (1.4) are excluded at 95% confidence level for a light χ~10.

  • In: Journal of High Energy Physics. - : Springer Nature. - 1029-8479 .- 1126-6708. ; 2020:6
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search for supersymmetric partners of gluons and quarks is presented, involving signatures with jets and either two isolated leptons (electrons or muons) with the same electric charge, or at least three isolated leptons. A data sample of proton-proton collisions at s = 13 TeV recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider between 2015 and 2018, corresponding to a total integrated luminosity of 139 fb−1, is used for the search. No significant excess over the Standard Model expectation is observed. The results are interpreted in simplified supersymmetric models featuring both R-parity conservation and R-parity violation, raising the exclusion limits beyond those of previous ATLAS searches to 1600 GeV for gluino masses and 750 GeV for bottom and top squark masses in these scenarios. • Search for supersymmetry in events with four or more charged leptons in 139 fb−1 of √s = 13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
  • 2021
  • In: Journal of High Energy Physics. - : SPRINGER. - 1029-8479 .- 1126-6708. ; 2021:7
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search for supersymmetry in events with four or more charged leptons (electrons, muons and τ-leptons) is presented. The analysis uses a data sample corresponding to 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions delivered by the Large Hadron Collider at s = 13 TeV and recorded by the ATLAS detector. Four-lepton signal regions with up to two hadronically decaying τ-leptons are designed to target several supersymmetric models, while a general five-lepton signal region targets any new physics phenomena leading to a final state with five charged leptons. Data yields are consistent with Standard Model expectations and results are used to set upper limits on contributions from processes beyond the Standard Model. Exclusion limits are set at the 95% confidence level in simplified models of general gauge-mediated supersymmetry, excluding higgsino masses up to 540 GeV. In R-parity-violating simplified models with decays of the lightest supersymmetric particle to charged leptons, lower limits of 1.6 TeV, 1.2 TeV, and 2.5 TeV are placed on wino, slepton and gluino masses, respectively. • Search for the decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light pseudoscalar particle decaying to two photons
  • 2024
  • In: Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier B.V.. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 850
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search for the decay of the Higgs boson to a Z boson and a light, pseudoscalar particle, a, decaying respectively to two leptons and to two photons is reported. The search uses the full LHC Run 2 proton–proton collision data at s=13 TeV, corresponding to 139 fb−1 collected by the ATLAS detector. This is one of the first searches for this specific decay mode of the Higgs boson, and it probes unexplored parameter space in models with axion-like particles (ALPs) and extended scalar sectors. The mass of the a particle is assumed to be in the range 0.1–33 GeV. The data are analysed in two categories: a merged category where the photons from the a decay are reconstructed in the ATLAS calorimeter as a single cluster, and a resolved category in which two separate photons are detected. The main background processes are from Standard Model Z boson production in association with photons or jets. The data are in agreement with the background predictions, and upper limits on the branching ratio of the Higgs boson decay to Za times the branching ratio a→γγ are derived at the 95% confidence level and they range from 0.08% to 2% depending on the mass of the a particle. The results are also interpreted in the context of ALP models. © 2024 The Author(s)

  • Search for the HH → bb¯ bb¯ process via vector-boson fusion production using proton-proton collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2020
  • In: Journal of High Energy Physics. - : Springer Nature. - 1029-8479 .- 1126-6708. ; 2020:7
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search for Higgs boson pair production via vector-boson fusion (VBF) in the bb¯ bb¯ final state is carried out with the ATLAS experiment using 126 fb−1 of proton- proton collision data delivered at s = 13 TeV by the Large Hadron Collider. This search is sensitive to VBF production of additional heavy bosons that may decay into Higgs boson pairs, and in a non-resonant topology it can constrain the quartic coupling between the Higgs bosons and vector bosons. No significant excess relative to the Standard Model expectation is observed, and limits on the production cross-section are set at the 95% confidence level for a heavy scalar resonance in the context of an extended Higgs sector, and for non-resonant Higgs boson pair production. Interpretation in terms of the coupling between a Higgs boson pair and two vector bosons is also provided: coupling values normalised to the Standard Model expectation of κ2V< −0.76 and κ2V> 2.90 are excluded at the 95% confidence level in data. • Search for the Higgs boson decays H → ee and H → eμ in pp collisions at s=13TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2020
  • In: Physics Letters, Section B: Nuclear, Elementary Particle and High-Energy Physics. - : Elsevier BV. - 0370-2693 .- 1873-2445. ; 801
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Searches for the Higgs boson decays H→ee and H→eμ are performed using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139fb−1 collected with the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at s=13 TeV at the LHC. No significant signals are observed, in agreement with the Standard Model expectation. For a Higgs boson mass of 125 GeV, the observed (expected) upper limit at the 95% confidence level on the branching fraction B(H→ee) is 3.6×10−4 (3.5×10−4) and on B(H→eμ) is 6.2×10−5 (5.9×10−5). These results represent improvements by factors of about five and six on the previous best limits on B(H→ee) and B(H→eμ) respectively. © 2019 The Author

  • Search for top-philic heavy resonances in pp collisions at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2024
  • In: European Physical Journal C. - 1434-6044. ; 84:2
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search for the associated production of a heavy resonance with a top-quark or a top-antitop-quark pair, and decaying into a tt¯ pair is presented. The search uses the data recorded by the ATLAS detector in pp collisions at s=13 TeV at the Large Hadron Collider during the years 2015–2018, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb-1. Events containing exactly one electron or muon are selected. The two hadronically decaying top quarks from the resonance decay are reconstructed using jets clustered with a large radius parameter of R=1. The invariant mass spectrum of the two top quark candidates is used to search for a resonance signal in the range of 1.0 TeV to 3.2 TeV. The presence of a signal is examined using an approach with minimal model dependence followed by a model-dependent interpretation. No significant excess is observed over the background expectation. Upper limits on the production cross section times branching ratio at 95% confidence level are provided for a heavy Z′ boson based on a simplified model, for Z′ mass between 1.0 TeV and 3.0 TeV. The observed (expected) limits range from 21 (14) fb to 119 (86) fb depending on the choice of model parameters. © The Author(s) 2024.

  • 2020
  • In: European Physical Journal C. - : Springer Science and Business Media LLC. - 1434-6044 .- 1434-6052. ; 80:11
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper presents a search for direct top squark pair production in events with missing transverse momentum plus either a pair of jets consistent with Standard Model Higgs boson decay into b-quarks or a same-flavour opposite-sign dilepton pair with an invariant mass consistent with a Z boson. The analysis is performed using the proton–proton collision data at s=13 TeV collected with the ATLAS detector during the LHC Run-2, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb- 1. No excess is observed in the data above the Standard Model predictions. The results are interpreted in simplified models featuring direct production of pairs of either the lighter top squark (t~ 1) or the heavier top squark (t~ 2), excluding at 95% confidence level t~ 1 and t~ 2 masses up to about 1220 and 875 GeV, respectively. © 2020, The Author(s).

  • Search for trilepton resonances from chargino and neutralino pair production in s =13 TeV pp collisions with the ATLAS detector
  • 2021
  • In: Physical Review D. - : American Physical Society (APS). - 2470-0010 .- 2470-0029. ; 103:11
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • A search is performed for the electroweak pair production of charginos and associated production of a chargino and neutralino, each of which decays through an R-parity-violating coupling into a lepton and a W, Z, or Higgs boson. The trilepton invariant-mass spectrum is constructed from events with three or more leptons, targeting chargino decays that include an electron or muon and a leptonically decaying Z boson. The analyzed dataset corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb-1 of proton-proton collision data produced by the Large Hadron Collider at a center-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV and collected by the ATLAS experiment between 2015 and 2018. The data are found to be consistent with predictions from the Standard Model. The results are interpreted as limits at 95% confidence level on model-independent cross sections for processes beyond the Standard Model. Limits are also set on the production of charginos and neutralinos for a minimal supersymmetric Standard Model with an approximate B-L symmetry. Charginos and neutralinos with masses between 100 and 1100 GeV are excluded depending on the assumed decay branching fractions into a lepton (electron, muon, or τ lepton) plus a boson (W, Z, or Higgs). © 2021 CERN.

  • Search for tt¯ resonances in fully hadronic final states in pp collisions at √s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
  • 2020
  • In: Journal of High Energy Physics. - : Springer Nature. - 1029-8479 .- 1126-6708. ; 2020:10
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • This paper presents a search for new heavy particles decaying into a pair of top quarks using 139 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data recorded at a centre-of-mass energy of s = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The search is performed using events consistent with pair production of high-transverse-momentum top quarks and their subsequent decays into the fully hadronic final states. The analysis is optimized for resonances decaying into a tt¯ pair with mass above 1.4 TeV, exploiting a dedicated multivariate technique with jet substructure to identify hadronically decaying top quarks using large-radius jets and evaluating the background expectation from data. No significant deviation from the background prediction is observed. Limits are set on the production cross-section times branching fraction for the new Z′ boson in a topcolor-assisted-technicolor model. The Z′ boson masses below 3.9 and 4.7 TeV are excluded at 95% confidence level for the decay widths of 1% and 3%, respectively. [Figure not available: see fulltext.] © 2020, The Author(s).
