- Sustainability has become a topic of global relevance: Corporations and other economically acting organizations increasingly need to realize economic, environmental and social objectives in order to survive. Supplementary to "classical" environmental management, realizing corporate sustainability requires comprehensive approaches which allow the integration of social and economic aspects. Such concepts can be found e.g. in international excellence models mainly based on a TQM thinking but also in the field of human factors in organizational design and management. Understood as systems approaches, they include the interests of all relevant stakeholders with a mid- or long-term time perspective and are thus highly linked with the principles of sustainable development. In this book internationally leading scientists discuss the issue of sustainability from their perspective, resulting in an innovative view on different management approaches under the umbrella of corporate sustainability.

- Abstract in UndeterminedThe purpose of this paper is to report on the development of a methodology and an associatedmeasurement instrument for diagnosing innovation excellence, and to show how this methodology wasapplied in a case study. The conceptual model behind the measurement instrument has been developedbased on the specific enabler criteria and criteria parts from the European Excellence Model adapted tothe innovation area. The areas to address (= the key performance indicators) under each criterion is theresult of a comprehensive study of innovation literature combined with the case company’sexperiences from a relatively new established technology center.After the initial model building (section 2) a “4P” model and strategy for building sustainableorganizational excellence will be presented in section 3, followed by a presentation and discussion onthe epistemology and ontology of the “4P” model in section 4. Then a simple approach for measuringand diagnosing innovation excellence will be presented in section 5 and the results by using this simpleapproach will be presented and discussed in section 6. The paper will then be finalized in section 7with final discussions and validation of the “4P” model.
