  • Kritiker: Skärvor av ljus trängde in i rummet genom alla möjliga springor
  • 2018
  • In: Tidskriften Kritiker. - 1104-196X. ; :48
  • Other publication (other academic/artistic)abstract

  • Auguste Comte — positiv sociologi
  • 2022
  • In: Sociologins klassiker: Upptäckter och återupptäckter. - 9789144141060 ; , s. 35-50
  • Book chapter (peer-reviewed)abstract

  • Estimation of the Expected Change in Domestic Human Salmonella Cases in Sweden in 2010, Given a Hypothetical Relaxation of the Current Salmonella Control Programme.
  • 2014
  • In: PLoS ONE. - : Public Library of Science (PLoS). - 1932-6203. ; 9:3
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The Swedish salmonella control programme has been very successful in reducing the number of salmonella infections in both humans and animals. However, the costs for the control have increased and it has thus been questioned if the control measures could be relaxed and, if so, what effect this would have on human and animal health. The aim of the present study is to evaluate the expected effects on human health of a relaxation of the Swedish control i.e. a substitution of the present programme with a programme similar to the ones present in Denmark or the Netherlands. Data from the year 2010 was used to illustrate this. It was assumed that the domestic exposure to salmonella would then become the same in Sweden as it was in Denmark or the Netherlands in that year. As official statistics on the number of reported salmonella cases are not comparable across European countries, data from five different sources were used to try to obtain comparable estimates of the domestic salmonella exposure in the three countries. The study shows that the number of reported domestic human salmonella cases in Sweden in 2010 would increase by approximately 900 to 2 400 cases in the Danish scenarios and 6 400 to 8 400 in the Dutch scenarios. Although uncertainty exists, it was concluded that the number of reported domestic salmonella cases would increase substantially in Sweden in case of a relaxation of the current control programme.

  • Locating sex : regional geographies of sexual social media
  • 2024
  • In: Gender, Place and Culture. - : Routledge. - 0966-369X .- 1360-0524. ; 31:4, s. 424-440
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Contributing to the field of the geographies of digital sexualities, this article explores the geosocial dimensions of digital sexual cultures by analyzing three regionally operating, linguistically specific social media platforms devoted to sexual expression. Drawing on case studies of an Estonian platform used primarily for group sex, a Swedish platform for kink and BDSM, and a Finnish platform for nude self-expression, we ask how these contribute to and shape sexual geographies in digital and physical registers. First, we focus on the platforms as tools for digital wayfinding and hooking up. Second, we consider how the platforms help to reimagine and sexualize physical locations as ones of play, and how this transforms the ways of inhabiting such spaces. Third, we analyze how the platforms operate as sexual places in their own right, designed to accommodate certain forms of display, relating, and belonging. We argue, in particular, that these platforms shape how users imagine and engage with location by negotiating notions of proximity and distance, risk and safety, making space for sexual sociability. We approach geographies of sexuality both through the regional and linguistic boundaries within which these platforms operate, as well as through our participants' sense of comfort and investment in local spaces of sexual play. As sexual content is increasingly pushed out of large, U.S.-owned social media platforms, we argue that locally operating platforms provide a critical counterpoint, allowing for a vital re-platforming of sex on a regional level.

  • Support needs of parents in neonatal intensive care unit : An integrative review.
  • 2022
  • In: Journal of Clinical Nursing. - : Wiley-Blackwell Publishing Inc.. - 0962-1067 .- 1365-2702. ; 31:5-6, s. 532-547
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • BACKGROUND: Having an infant in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is associated with intense emotional stress for both mothers and fathers. However, with the right support from staff, this stress can be reduced significantly. Although evidence on needs of parents in the neonatal unit exists, there is lack of a systematic integrative review on the support needs of parents in the neonatal unit. Current review evidence is needed to support busy neonatal unit clinicians in their practice.AIM AND OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this integrative review is to explore the current available evidence to describe and understand the support needs of parents of infants in the NICU.METHODS: The integrative review process of Whittemore and Knafl (2005) was used to guide this study. Six databases-MEDLINE, CINHAL, PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar and PsycINFO-were searched for eligible studies using relevant keywords. Primary studies published in English language from 2010 to 2021 were reviewed following a pre-determined inclusion criteria. Studies that met the inclusion criteria were critically appraised using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT). The review report is guided by the PRISMA 2020 checklist for systematic reviews.RESULTS: Overall, 24 primary qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods studies were included in the review. Analysis of included studies resulted in six themes that demonstrate the support needs of parents in the NICU; 1. Information needs; 2. Emotionally intelligent staff; 3. Hands-on support; 4. Targeted support; 5. Emotional needs; and 6. Practical needs.CONCLUSION: This review has presented the current evidence on the needs of parents from their own perspective. Healthcare workers' understanding and supporting these needs in the NICU is likely to increase parental satisfaction and improve health outcomes for parents, infants and their family.RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE: Parents of infants in the NICU require staff support to enhance their experiences, well-being, caring and parenting confidence during admission and post-discharge. As parents are in constant need for informational, emotional and practical support, continuing professional development for NICU staff should place emphasis on effective communication strategies, enhancing emotional intelligence and empathy among staff. NICU staff should build positive ongoing relationships with parents and provide targetted support for mothers and fathers.

  • Abuja is not for the poor : Street vending and the politics of public space
  • 2020
  • In: Geoforum. - : Elsevier BV. - 0016-7185 .- 1872-9398. ; 109, s. 14-23
  • Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • The article examines how street vendors in Abuja, Nigeria are experiencing and responding to the attempts to restrict their access to public space. Modernist planning and the increasing trend in the privatization of public space is limiting the amount and types of public spaces available to street vendors. Drawing largely on primary research, the article reports that street vendors are responding by adopting a range of spatial, relational and temporal tactics. Specifically, it cites the Ready-to-Run tactic, relocating to relatively more secure sites, informal relations and networks and operating at certain times of the day. Access to the street and mobility are key factors that shape the types of tactics adopted. Vendors prioritize proximity to the street in order to maximize access to potential customers. The highly mobile vendors are more likely to adopt spatial and temporal tactics, while the less mobile tend to rely on informal relations and networks. Furthermore, in the absence of formal organizing, individual agency is more prevalent. Where collective agency exists, it is often a response to an immediate challenge. Gender and age influence the experiences of vendors and the tactics adopted. The Abuja case is a notable example of the link between modernist planning, particularly the master plan approach and socio-spatial exclusion. As a city built from scratch, the plan laid the foundation for socio-spatial exclusion by planning the poor out of the city. The plan remains at the centre of contemporary urban politics, notably the relations between the state and informal workers.

  • Big Data Analytics Based Optimisation for Enriched Process Planning : A Methodology
  • 2017
  • In: Manufacturing Systems 4.0 – Proceedings of the 50th CIRP Conference on Manufacturing Systems. - : Elsevier. ; , s. 161-166
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • To improve flexibility and accurateness of the optimisation in machining, this paper presents a big data analytics based optimisation method for enriched process planning in the concept of which cutting condition and cutting tool are optimised together and simultaneously. Within the context, the machining factors (workpiece, machining requirement, machine tool, machining process and machining result etc.) are concerned and represented by data attributes. In case that, the new machining resource, new materials and new machining tools etc., can be represented by a group of parameters, so that each machining cases can be treated by data regardless of the relevant experiments, which can enhance practicality and flexibility of potential application in real industry. Also a hybrid method combining neural networks (NN), analytic hierarchy process (AHP), and evolution based algorithm (EBA) or swarm intelligence based algorithm (SIBA) is proposed. NN based model is trained by the big data to improve the accurateness of each single objective, AHP is employed for multi-objective, and EBA or SBA is used to execute the optimising calculation.

  • A European Dashboard showcasing the State of the Environment
  • 2023
  • Conference paper (other academic/artistic)abstract
    • The European Open Science Cloud is a pan-European initiative that aims at developing a federated infrastructure that supports scientific research and Open Science. Having the FAIR principles at the core of Open Science practices, the Environmental Research Infrastructures (ENVRIs) that operate in Europe collaborate at cluster level (the ENVRI cluster) continuously improving the FAIRness of their services and working towards becoming more interoperable among them but also with other clusters. To showcase the benefits of an integration platform that supports scientific workflows, the ENVRIs develop the “Dashboard for the State of the Environment” as a cross-discipline service to address with scientific facts the environmental concerns. The project brings together three scientific domains (Atmosphere, Biodiversity, Ocean) that each have set up analytical workflows to provide environmental indicators in real-time, allowing the users to visualise the “State of the Environment” by interacting with the service interface. The Dashboard is designed to be completely user configurable so that the users can select from a list the indicators to be shown and their order. Providers can add, remove and edit indicators through a standard REST API, that allows transferring all parameters, including the configuration of the indicators and how to provision data values and thumbnail interaction. The Dashboard is implemented and operated using engineering best practices, including YAML for the indicators’ descriptions and a robust and flexible container-based deployment. It builds on EOSC services like AAI, cloud services, and data storage, and the workflows that provide the indicators will also build on the EOSC and Research Infrastructure (RI) computing integration. As a proof of concept, a limited list of indicators is available, and we foresee that the participating RIs will provide many more indicator options in the near future. In addition, through the extension API it will be possible for new RIs to start providing indicators. The Dashboard service is completely open source, and, as the whole concept, it is designed to be flexible and expansible. Therefore, we encourage other clusters that are part of EOSC to use the service as another basis for disseminating their relevant indicators to a wider audience.

  • Stabilization of peat soils with air furnace blast slag and Portland Cement
  • 1997
  • In: Proceedings of the Thirteenth International Conference on Solid Waste Technology and Management.
  • Conference paper (peer-reviewed)abstract
    • Air Furnace Blast Slag (FB) (fraction 0-4 mm) and standard Portland Cement (PC) have been used to stabilize peat soil under field and laboratory conditions. Considering the inhomogeneity of a stabilized peat block it is necessary to improve a combination of different test methods to: (1) guide the selection of slag material for specific soils, (2) assure that the mechanical stability of the stabilized peat (Peat/Slag/PC) is efficient, (3) control the homogeneity of the stabilized peat and (4) assure that the chemical stability of the stabilized peat satisfies foundation and environmental requirements
