Strong interaction effects in antiprotonic 6Li/7Li atoms

- The effects of strong interaction on the 3 –> 2 X-ray transition in antiprotonic 6Li/7Li atoms have been measured at the low energy -beam at CERN. For the shifts and widths of the levels the values [epsilon]2p = (-230 ï¿œ 72) eV, [Gamma]2p = (443 ï¿œ 210) eV, and [Gamma]3d = (0.130 ï¿œ 0.045) eV for 6Li, and [epsilon]2p = (-336 ï¿œ 60) eV, [Gamma]2p = (456 ï¿œ 190) eV, and [Gamma]3d = (0.210 ï¿œ 0.062) eV for 7Li were found. The data are compared with optical model predictions.

- Syftet med standardsystem är att tjäna tid och pengar. Ett standardsystem kan även ge nya möjligheter att effektivisera en verksamhet. Finns det några problem vid anskaffning av standardsystemet? Ja, alltför ofta väljs standardsystem på ett för dåligt underlag om verksamhetens krav och behov. Sedan underskattar man resurserna för anpassning av standardsystem och verksamhet till varandra.Denna bok behandlar en metod för att anpassa standardysstem i ett företags verksamhet (SIV-metoden). Boken innehåller praktikfall från Alfa-Laval och Philips som exempel på metodanvändningen. Boken vänder sig till personer som arbetar med att förändra standardsystem och det egna verksamhetsområdet mot varandra med de konsekvenser detta kan innebära.Ibland behöver vi göra ett förval bland urvalet av standardsystem på marknaden. En metod för detta presenteras i boken: " Verksamhetsutveckling - Att välja standardsystem" (Studenlitteratur, 1984) som kan ses som ett komplement till denna bok.Boken var förpublicerad som V-rapport V-4201, Institutet för Verksamhetsutveckling (Institut V) vid Handelshögskolan i Stockholm (1982-02-26)

Suppression of Secondary Antibody Response by Intravenous Immunoglobulin in a Patient with Haemophilia B and Antibodies

- A 39‐year‐old patient, suffering from severe haemophilia B and antibodies against factor IX, has twice been treated with extracorporeal protein A‐Sepharose adsorption followed by conventional substitution therapy in combination with immunosuppression (cyclophos‐phamide). On both occasions, separated by a 2‐year interval, the same procedure was followed except that, on the second, administration of i.v. immunoglobulin (Gammonativ, KabiVitrum) was added. Within a week of the first treatment the patient developed a 15‐fold increase in the antibody titre. Following the second treatment described here, no secondary antibody response could be detected, and after a further 12 weeks only traces of antibodies are demonstrable. It seems that antibody synthesis was suppressed by the i.v. immunoglobulin. No evidence was found to demonstrate that the effect was due either to a non‐specific suppression of the immune and reticuloendothelial systems or to the action of interfering antibodies. It has not yet been established whether or not the protein A‐Sepharose adsorption technique, or the immunosuppressive treatment, contributed in any way to the result. The observations suggest a new approach to the treatment of haemophiliacs with antibodies of the high‐responding type.
