In general, the lifetimes obtained by curve fitting are in agreement with theory. However, the lifetime results for 3s3p(3P)3d 4P04D0 are somewhat higher than predicted, possibly due to the neglection of some of the cascades in the data analysis

(author) Experimental mean-life determinations of 2p5 3p and 3d levels in S VII and Ar IX 1988 In: Physica Scripta. - : IOP Publishing. - 0031-8949 .- 1402-4896. ; 38:6, s. 821-824 Journal article (peer-reviewed)abstract Experimental lifetimes of several levels in the 2p5 3p and 3d configurations in Ne-like sulphur, S VII, and argon, Ar IX, have been determined by the beam-foil technique. The ANDC method for cascade correction has been applied in the analyses of the 3p decay curves. The results are generally in good agreement with recent theoretical values except for the 3p 3D levels for which significant deviations are observed. Similar discrepancies have also been observed in the isoelectronic Cl VIII system.
