Abstract

- This chapter presents a synthesis of the entire edited collection. In doing so, three key themes are developed which emerged from the chapter contributions. These themes are as follows: planning for climate change, second home community responses to climate change, and second home impacts on climate change. These themes are elaborated in the context of the relevant supporting chapters before the argument shifts into a discussion of future directions for second home and climate change research. In particular, the need for more research in the areas of planning and policy, psychological responses of second home owners, and overall resilience is stressed.
