Preparing music teachers in Brazil

• This chapter is about a study that had as its aim to accompany and assess the implementation of the curricular programme of the Music Teacher Education Program at the State University of Santa Catarina (UDESC) in 2005. The curriculum reform was carried out according the principles established by the law 9.394/96. At the same time this chapter presents a series of data and reflections that can contribute to the institutional management of the university and significant questions about music teacher education in Brazil, but may also be considered by other countries, from Latin America and Europe, for instance.
