  • In the broad-nosed pipefish Syngnathus typhle, brooding males positioned themselves significantly more often towards the warmer part (18 degrees C) of an aquarium. whereas females were indifferent in this respect. This behavioural temperature preference may increase male brooding rate and indirectly influence patterns of mating competition.
