• Kunstnerboken: unik og mangfoldig (kuratert av Codex Polari) We have invited Twenty-six artists/groups to take part in this ambitious Nordic artist book exhibition, celebrating large and small scale books created as works of arts. The exhibition includes installations, performances, video works, unique editions, and entire collections, filling all 600m2 of the white cube gallery of Kristiansand Kunsthall and, in the same building, will spill over into the shelves of the public library on the three floors below. For the last 10 years Codex Polaris have been researching and creating platforms for Norwegian, and more recently, Nordic artists who challenge the format of the artist book, specifically focusing on the hand-made. With a special curators grant from the Norwegian Arts Council, Codex Polaris have spent two years putting together this exhibition, having visited artist studios, book fairs, and exhibitions in the Nordic countries to find established and emerging artists who push the boundaries of this genre. With the exhibition and associated seminar we hope to challenge the way the public and collecting institutions can handle, view, purchase and appreciate these often complicated and difficult to categorise and exhibit works of art.
