  • The natural radiative lifetimes of some excited Bi I levels belonging to the 6 p 2 7 s and the 6 p 2 6 d configurations have been determined by analyzing Hanle depolarization curves obtained in an atomic beam experiment on the 100% abundant isotope Bi 209 ( I =9/2). Taking the exciting light spectral distribution into account the following values for the lifetimes have been obtained: ##IMG## [http://ej.iop.org/images/1402-4896/5/1-2/012/img1.gif] {values for lifetimes}
