Context And Comprehension - A Neurolinguistic And Interactional Approach To The Understanding Of Semantic Pragmatic Disorder

• In the present study we provide thorough descriptions of two children with a semantic-pragmatic disorder, a subgroup within the group of specific and severe developmental language disorders, from a neurolinguistic and interactional perspective. We argue that the pragmatic problems, at least in these two girls, are most probably secondary to their semantic'conceptual deficit. If sufficient contextual cues are provided comprehension is improved and, as a consequence, the pragmatic problems are reduced.

• Abstract in French Au cours de la preacutesente eacutetude nous faisons la description systeacutematique, du point de vue neurolinguistique et interactionnel, de deux enfants de sexe feacuteminin souffrant de deacutesordres seacutemantico-pragmatiques, ces derniers formant un sous-groupe au sein du groupe des deacutesordres speacutecifiques les plus aigus du deacuteveloppement du langage. Nous avancons (l)circhypothegravese que, au moins chez ces deux enfants, les problegravemes pragmatiques sont tregraves probablement la conseacutequence de leur deacuteficit seacutemantico-conceptuel. Degraves que (l)circon fournit suffisamment d'indices contextuels la compreacutehension s'ameacuteliore et (l)circon assiste agrave la reacuteduction des problegravemes pragmatiques. Abstract in German In der vorliegenden Studie geben wir eine eingehende Beschreibung, aus neurolinguistischer und interaktioneller Sicht, zweier Kinder mit einer semantisch-pragmatischen Storung - einer Unterart innerhalb der Gruppe von spezifischen, schweren sprachlichen Entwicklungsstorungen. Wir vertreten den Standpunkt, dafi die pragmatischen Probleme, zumindest bei diesen zwei Mddchen, wahrscheinlich eine sekundare Folge ihres semantischlkonzeptuellen Defizits sind. Wenn genugend Kontexthinweise gegeben werden, erhoht sich der Verstehensgrad, und folglich reduzieren sich die pragmatischen Probleme.
