- In recent years, renewable energy has attracted attention due to the issue of global warming. Offshore wind power is considered to be an important part of the future energy supply. In a previous studies, a 2level converter for a 5MW wind turbine system was analyzed [1]. It would be of substantial interest to also know how the efficiency of a 3-level converter would compare with a 2level equivalent [2]. The purpose of this paper, is to analyze and show the efficiency of a 5MW wind generating system, when operated with a 2 and 3level inverter.
