  • On-going development and recent results of the research in the Swedish Gas Turbine Centre (GTC)
  • 2004
  • Ingår i: Proc. ASME Turbo Expo. - : ASMEDC. ; , s. 261-268
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • This paper describes a way of co-operation between industries, universities and government that has proven to be very fruitful. The Swedish Gas Turbine Centre (GTC) is constituted as a research consortium between technical universities and gas turbine industry. The overall goal of the centre, that was founded in 1996 on a governmental initiative, is to build up a basis of knowledge at Swedish universities to support the industrial development in Sweden of gas turbines of the future with expected requirements on low emissions, high efficiencies, high availability, and low costs. Since the start the research has had a focus on high temperature components of gas turbines (combustion chamber and turbine). This is also reflected in the on-going development phase where the research program consists of four project areas: cooling technology, combustion technology, aeroelasticity, and life time prediction of hot components. The projects are aiming at developing design tools and calculation and verification methods within these fields. A total of eleven research students (among them one industrial PhD student) are active in the centre at present. Numerical analysis as well as experimental verification in test rigs are included. The program has so far produced eleven Licentiate of Engineering and five PhD. On-going activities and recent results of the research in the four research areas are presented: A new test rig for investigation of time-dependent pressures of three-dimensional features on a vibrating turbine blade at realistic Mach, Reynolds and Strouhal numbers and first experimental results. Results of numerical simulations of heat loads on turbine blades and vanes, especially platform cooling. First results of numerical investigations of combustion and thermo-acoustic instabilities in gas turbine chambers. Experimental investigation of crack propagation in gas turbine materials using the scanning electron microscope (SEM).

  • CLADCOMS - CLADribine tablets long-term Control Of MS - a post-marketing investigator driven study
  • 2022
  • Ingår i: Multiple Sclerosis Journal. - : Sage Publications. - 1352-4585 .- 1477-0970. ; 28:Suppl. 3, s. 847-848
  • Tidskriftsartikel (övrigt vetenskapligt/konstnärligt)abstract
    • Background: Cladribine  is  a  deoxyadenosine  analogue  prodrug  that selectively  induces  immune  reconstitution  by  targeting  B-  and  T-lymphocytes. Cladribine  tablets  (CladT)  are  administered  in two courses, 12 months apart, for patients with relapsing multiple sclerosis (RMS). Post-marketing surveillance is important for evaluation  of  long-term  safety  and  effectiveness  in  a  real-world setting. CLADCOMS (CLADribine tablets long-term Control Of MS) is a post-marketing investigator driven study. Here we report one year follow-up data on the first 100 patients included in the study in April 2021.Objective: 1) To  investigate for how long a full dose treatment with Cladribine 10 mg tablets (3.5 mg/kg over two years) offers freedom of disease activity in relapsing MS patients.2) To collect complete data on safety and effectiveness with the help of the Swedish Neuroregistry to enable future assessment on effectiveness and safety in comparison with other in Sweden commonly used disease modifying treatments. Methods: CLADCOMS  includes  patients  with  relapsing  MS  from  the  eight academic  clinics  starting  Cladribine  treatment  after  23rd  of  March  2018. Data  is  collected  in  the  Swedish  Neuroregistry  using  highly  structured  yearly follow-up  routines.   Descriptive   data   on   relapses,   MRI   activity,   Patient   Reported   Outcome   Measures   and   Serious   Adverse   events   (SAEs)  from the  first  100  patient  included  in  the  study  are  obtained from the registry. Results: Up  to  April  2022  1XX  patients  were  included  in  the  study. In April 2021 the first 100 patient entered the study. 40% of patients included were treatment naïve, 29% switched from natalizumab and 13% from rituximab. By April 2022, 5 patients experienced a relapse during the treatment initiation and showed MRT activity with contrast enhancing (CEL)lesions more than six months after initiation of treatment, of which 2 patients showed CEL more than six months after the second treatment course year two. 20% of the patients showed new lesions on the first MRI performed up to 18 months after treatment initiation. Two patients reported SEAs. Analysis of CD19   and   CD27-   B-cells   counts   over   time   will   be   performed. Conclusions: Cladribine treatment demonstrates clinical stability in patients treated ⩾ 12 months. However, continued follow-up is needed to assess the effectiveness and safety of treatment with Cladribine over a longer time to investigate time to disease reactivation after the second treatment course year two has been administered.

  • Materializing activism
  • 2020
  • Ingår i: ECSCW 2019 - Proceedings of the 17th European Conference on Computer Supported Cooperative Work. - : European Society for Socially Embedded Technologies (EUSSET).
  • Konferensbidrag (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Net activism shows how easily available tools allow the organization of social movements to be scaled up and extended globally. These media ecologies enable new forms of power. This one-day workshop gathers researchers focusing on the collaborative efforts within social movements, looking into the socio-technical systems; the organization of activism; the relations between traditional and social media; and the complex network of systems, information, people, values, theories, histories, ideologies and aesthetics underlying various types of activism. The workshop consists of brainstorming sessions where we materialize the intangible and develop our theories and ideas further through a collaborative design process.

  • Raman spectroscopy and field-emission properties of CVD-grown carbon-nanotube films
  • 2001
  • Ingår i: Applied Physics a-Materials Science & Processing. ; 73, s. 409-418
  • Tidskriftsartikel (refereegranskat)abstract
    • Carbon-nanotube films are very efficient cathodes for field-emission devices. This study presents a comprehensive comparison between structural, spectroscopic and field-emission properties of films of aligned and non-aligned multi-wall nanotubes (MWNTs) which are grown by thermal chemical vapour deposition. Three types of films are investigated: vertically aligned MWNTs with clean and coated nanotube side walls as well as non-aligned MWNT films. Raman spectra taken on the aligned MWNT films consist of many lines of first-, second- and third-order signals. Several lines are reported here far the first time for MWNTs. The presence of the surface coating leads to a decrease and broadening of the higher-order signals as well as an increase in the disorder-induced contributions in the first-order regime. The aligned MWNT films have excellent field-emission properties with very high emission current densities and low turn-on and threshold fields. The presence of a surface coating has no impact on the efficiency of the field-emission process. Films of non-aligned MWNTs show considerably reduced electron-emission current densities and larger critical fields.
